Supposedly, the later episodes are much better than the early episodes. Even Lucy acknowledges it takes a few episodes for the show to find it's groove. According to her around ep 5 is when things pick up steam. So, I'll stick around to see if I agree.
I must admit I can act like a spoiled child when it comes to this show because I keep on thinking, "I WANT ROME BACK!" *sigh* I know this show isn't quite like Rome but some of the characters feel like rip off Rom characters.

Ok, every time I looked down I felt I missed something critical going on tonight: full male frontal, guy-on-guy sex, and of course, several acts of extreme violence.
My question: Does anyone know of a good site recapping this? I think it has a wiki...TWOP isn't doing one.

You can watch it on Netflix. They even have the eps early on Fridays.
Last week's ep, Legends, gave background on the other gladiators. So much so that I was ready for Spartacus to get his ass kicked. I understand his intentions are noble. He wants to be reunited with his wife, but...he's so self-righteous. It's annoying. He has no idea what brought those other men to the "school", but obviously their suffering doesn't match his own.

Thanks, I have Starz but was looking for a play-by-play (ala TwoP). I think I found one on a Xena board.
I really do want to learn more about the other gladiators. If they're not going to tell me anything more about Spartacus, tell me about somebody. And can we retire the "Kill them all" reprise? We get it. Your wife is strengthening you. Let's move it along.
I grumble but I actually liked this episode, particularly the Hannah/Lawless interactions. I missed when Crixus first gave Naevia the necklace; how did Lucretia wind up with it?

I missed that part. I was so annoyed with Spartacus' attitude, I skipped ahead to see if Crixus would be killed. He wasn't, obviously. I'll have to go back and check the last 10 mins out.

One thing keeps me from getting into this series. HOW can it be a series? He dies. I'm not spoiling that cuz the story is old and out there for all. I mean, how can this work long-term?

Actually, do we know if they are following the movie plotline? I wasn't sure if they were or not. There's not much to get into. The supporting characters at this point are more interesting than Spartacus.

True.
I'm watching it on Netflix now and I can't seem to get into it. The acting is uneven and it's clear where all the money went. Not into location, set, or screenwriters.

I've finally decided to approach this show as pure camp and enjoy it for the hot men wearing next to nothing. The writing is thin but I do enjoy the relationship between Spartacus and Varro (and since I typed that Varro will probably be killed in the upcoming episode) and Lucretia and Batiatus's attempts to climb the social ladder. I like Spartacus well enough but honestly I really don't give a flip about his wife. Sorry, but it takes more than dreamy flashbacks of her saying, "Kill them all!" to get me to care. The sad thing is I should care. She is the reason why Spartacus is fighting and the woman was more than likely gang raped and sold into slavery! Yet, whenever Spartacus starts talking about her I just roll my eyes and think, "Ok dude shut up and look pretty!" Though perhaps they aren't bothering to develop her because from the sounds of upcoming ep descriptions Spartacus finds out she's dead.Cast of Spartacus works out. I'm not going to lie. I've watched this several times without the volume on. Yep, I'm entertained solely because it's hot men shirtless and working their muscles. I'm a very shallow girl.
