Damn! Good for her! I will say the woman puts her money where her mouth is. She's talented, and puts on a fucking great show (holy shit that was incredible) and then follows it up with "By the way get your education too kids, you're going to need it!".

I'm not a fan of Beyonce at all but I cannot deny myself how incredible the performance was. Unapologetically black and I was here for it.

I'm in the "Not a fan" crowd, too. I'm playing these songs that have been Top 20 hits this year according to Wikipedia, and I'm pretty sure I've never heard of them. And I think I'm just too old for this style of R&B. And I still have no idea who she is as a person. I do really, really love If I Were a Boy. That's an amazing song. I'll stick with my Queen Madonna. But you all go on with your bad selves!!!

Jay Z is literally the last person on Earth who still loves or uses Tidal. That’s the only way to listen to it.

I think that I played that Lemonade CD too much, my 2 year old thinks that Beyoncé is his long lost love. Every single toy gets drop if he hears the opening to Formation. Smh

Beyonce literally raps better than the best rappers these days. How!
Album is amazing. So much to take in. Two immediate thoughts. This is the culmination of their last solo albums. The final chapter.
They are the epitome of black love, pride and achievement. I'm not even talking black love in the romantic sense but in the love they have for their blackness. It's been a beautiful journey especially for me to see as a Bey fan.

I was seeing some fan backlash about the tour over the past few days--no new songs, no new choreography, old man Jay-Z messing up the vibe. I'm sure the new album will mollify some people, but how will they incorporate that into the tour? I know I'd be pissed if I had already seen the tour with the same ol' rehashed stuff, and now she/they changed it up for the next leg.

I kind of haven't wanted to say this because I am one of the (apparently) rare Beyonce fans, but I think this is going to be the project where she falls to earth. The surprise drop was dramatically less cataclysmic and I notice that superfans on instagram aren't flipping out as much as they have with past releases. The tour has been getting lackluster reviews and, quite frankly, she looks bored and lethargic in all the clips I've seen. I read earlier that the album was expected to open at #1 with 122,000 eq units (which isn't great for their combined starpower, but it's still considered a hit) but someone on ONTD posted that the sales projections have been retracted. Historically, the numbers are unlikely to be corrected upward. I was happy that the album was doing well because I personally was feeling underwhelmed about it. I was not excited to hear that I had to listen to half a Jay Z album to hear half a new Beyonce album and I was even less excited to hear that half of that half-Beyonce album was going to be rap-Beyonce. I am not a big fan of rap-Beyonce. I was fine with her in small doses because it was a nice change and it showed she had versatility, but... that's not what I signed on for. The original papers said "r&b chanteuse". I am willing to accept that the boundaries of music are more fluid than ever, but two rap collabs in a row with your crusty hubby? Bey, you are pushing it. On top of that, a lot of people have been mentioning how it's so strange that this album wasn't released following her Coachella performance. That seems like a real missed opportunity.
I don't know... I guess I'm a little disappointed over the fact that I'm less excited about this project than anything she's done before, even though in a lot of significant ways, it feels like she was thinking of me when she put this project together. I haven't even heard the album, yet. I'm sure I'll get it before too long. Hopefully, it's fun and amazing.
