This isn't specific to any movie but I'm looking for a movie that contains a quick comedic scene where a situation escalates quickly. The actions/reactions of the character in the scene exacerbate* the situation. I know there are thousands but my mind is completely blank. Any suggestions?
*I'm actually trying to define the word exacerbate.

One scene that comes to mind is in O Brother Where Art Thou where Everett/George Clooney finds out his wife is engaged to someone else, and this quickly escalates into fisticuffs. A whole bunch of screwball comedies come to mind, too. And surely there's something from Airplane!

The stateroom scene in A Night at the Opera comes to mind.

You're welcome! I don't know if this fits the bill, but I love Bringing Up Baby.

Not a movie, but a TV show: when Niles decides to iron his pants on Frasier?

Both of those are perfect illustrations of the word!

OOOORRRR The 70's version of Bringing Up Baby, one of the funniest movies of all time, What's Up, Doc?, with Ryan O'Neal and Barbara Streisand at their most gorgeous and funniest. The entire movie is just one big escalation. (All of the YouTube trailers gave too much away, so the link goes to the opening credits, with Babs singing "You're The Top".

One ridiculous one is the different news channel gangs fighting in Anchorman. Afterwards, Will Ferrell/Ron Burgundy even says- Well that escalated quickly.

I saw a movie back in April I forgot the name of. A young man, an unsuccessful writer, receives a stolen, experimental drug from a friend of his ex-wife's that boosts his brain power. He is soon writing bestsellers, winning back the girlfriend who dumped him, and playing the stock market. On the way he incurs the wrath of the Russian mob. Anyone know?
