The Star Trek reboot, both of them. I saw an ad the other day for the second film's dvd release, and thought to myself: I guess I'll have to check that out (I'm a masochist). Then I remembered a couple of days later that I already did. Which doesnt say much for the second film.

Interview With a Vampire no, just no. Brad Pitt's freaking out while his house is on fire remains one of the most unintentionally hilarious scenes in movie history, for me. Actually, Brad Pitt trying to do a Jamaican accent in Meet Joe Black is high comedy as well.

Brad Pitt trying to do any kind of accent is hilarious, his Irish accent in The Devil's Own was atrocious.

Oh man, I was a teen into Ann Rice when that flick came out. My mom had to sneak me and a friend in because they wouldn't sell us tickets because we weren't 17. (The people who ran the AMC near my house were massive tools.) We were so psyched to see it. That said, the movie was so bad! It was so miscast. Cruise and Pitt were acting like they were in some serious drama when it's obvious you really need to play material like that as histrionic camp. Flat acting. Flat story. Blah. If they made one of Rice's films today, you know it would be some awesomely bombastic train wreck with glitter, pan sexual vampire love scenes (Cruise and the film as a whole seemed oblivious that the series has lots of gay/straight/doing your old mom vampire sexy times-- because, yeah, Ann Rice goes there), and plenty of camp.

Brad Pitt trying to do any kind of accent is hilarious, his Irish accent in The Devil's Own was atrocious. Curiously, Entertainment Weekly once rated that the most realistic Irish accent ever pulled off by an American actor (Julia Roberts' accent in Mary Reilly was rated the worst.) Since it's October and I've been watching scary movies, I should probably confess that I just can't get into Let the Right One In. I simply could not be either moved or scared by it.

I saw Young Adult last weekend and wanted to like it, but found it hard. I seem to remember it being sold as a comedy and it really wasn't. Reminded me of Bridesmaids that way.

This doesn't really count, but I like teen culture, I like 1930s and 1940s Americana, but I just can't handle the Andy Hardy movies. And I'm home sick and TCM is having a marathon.

I had heard nothing but good stuff about "Skyfall" the last Bond film. I like Daniel Craig, I'm OK with the Bond series as a whole. I started watching it a month ago and got maybe halfway through. I noticed it's about to fall off of Netflix and I'm only half-decided to watch it through to the end. I have found it ho-hum so far and don't understand what the fuss is about. Seems like pretty standard action flick stuff. Yawn.
Chonies - is Andy Hardy the one that Mickey Rooney starred in? I can't stand Mickey Rooney (RIP). I respect his very long career but his screen presence always annoyed me.

I liked the story (broken down Bond regenerates! weird canon stuff from the books!) and the way it was shot, so I recommend watching the last bits, especially if you like rugged exteriors. And yeah, that's Mickey Rooney alright. I still couldn't stand him, but I think watching the films in a row was kind of mesmerizing. I was able to neutralize his Mickey Rooney-ness and focus on the stories, which were more complex than I thought, even though they were all "Andy makes a mistake and learns a lesson, and golly oh boy does he like girls!"

Spy. I finally saw it recently and for the most part I was bored by it. A few good laughs here and there, but more cute than genuinely funny. It was like the writers were afraid to do anything that might offend Melissa McCarthy fans even a wee bit, so all the humor was kept humor-lite. Which was kinda sad; that premise had potential.
