Aeon Flux had some of the worst costumes for a SF movie I've seen. They all looked like repossessions from Star Trek The Next Generation. But I have to say it was the only movie I've ever seen with a costume inspired by a giant condom.

I coveted Reese Witherspoon's wardrobe in Walk the Line. Such gorgeous dresses.

I watched that horrid movie Prime just so I could see what Uma would be wearing. I wasn't disappointed...in the clothes, that is.

Rewatched Mona Lisa Smile today on cable and I've got to say that there were some lovely clothes on the ladies.

Edith Head originally designed the dress as *not* off-the-shoulder. There was some slip-up when the dress was actually made, and just before they began shooting the party scene, Head and Davis discovered that the shoulders were WAAAAAAY too big. Then, Davis tried pulling the dress off-the-shoulder and, in the words of Birdie Coonan, "Voila." If I knew how to link to an image of the dress in question, I would. Can anyone help me out? Here you go.

Just saw House of Flying Daggers again last night and the costumes in it are just so colourful and pretty!

I was looking at a slideshow of Anna Sui's collection form fashion week and could swear I've seen this outfit before. Sure enough I had. Rosalind Russell, His Girl Friday, 1949.

The clothes are half of why I watch Mad Men. I love Marie Antoinette mostly for the clothes. I was also amused by that 70s-era award show dress. It's funny how those 70s fashions permated so many aspects of American culture. Like rich and famous people wore stuff that I'd only wear to a cheesy 70s night now.

I'm dragging this thread up from the basement because Debbie Reynolds is selling her famous collection of movie costumes and memorabilia. Link for pdf catalog. The auction is going to be in two parts. One of the items in the second part will be the armor worn by Ingrid Bergman as Joan of Arc. The armor is being conserved by a props guy in Hollywood. Here's a thread with photos of the armor and the progress of repair/reassembly. ETA: the armor is going to be in the June auction. It is on p 104 of the pdf catalog.
