I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet, but the Marseilles scene in Casablanca is one of the best music movie moments ever. For those that haven't seen it, it starts with all the evil Nazis singing a German song in occupied territory. All the people look depressed and the resistance hero goes to the band and demands they sing the Marseilles and the whole place breaks out in song and the Nazis get all pissed off.

I love the scene in Boogie Nights where Dirk Diggler and Reed are going to sell fake crack at the Arab guy's house (played by Alfred Molina, IIRC) and he's wearing a bathrobe and is batshit insane. He seats them down, turns on the record player to Sister Christian and Jessie's Girl, and starts getting really into it, playing air piano and everything. The music swells, and you can see the passion on his face and the fear in Dirk and Reed's. It's so suspenseful and insane at the same time, and, IMO, is the real climax of the movie.

I was absolutely floored by Rebekah Del Rio's performance of "Llorando" during the Club Silencio scene in Mulholland Drive. The performance was both beautiful and disturbing.

I agree LittleEdieBeale and, in fact, I love the music in all of David Lynch's work- it's always very evocative.

Bumping this up with the Oompa-Loompas' songs from both Chocolate Factory movies. Too hilarious! ;D

PeeWee's Big Adventure. The "Tequila" dance on top of the biker bar is classic.
Also, maybe this is a little cheesy--in The Sound of Music when the Von Trapps are giving their concert, and the father goes out on stage to sing "Edelweiss" and his voice breaks from the emotion--Fraulein Maria comes out to help him, then the kids, and pretty soon the whole stadium is singing "Edelweiss" in unison. Always makes me tear up. Okay, I am a huge nerd.

I loved the use of The Pixies' song "Where is my mind" at the end of Fight Club when I saw it for the first time.
Also I loved the first song of Team America - World Police "Everyone got Aids". Cracks me up every time, especially the ending.
And its not really a movie moment but Badalamenti's score of most David Lynch movies is a favourite of mine. Lost Highway sucked but the soundtrack was fantastic and so is it to Wild at Hear, Fire walk with me and Mulholland Drive.
And now, I was about 12 years young when my mother showed my Christiane F - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo and when David Bowie sang 'Heroes' it blew me away. I couldn't wait until I could go to my first rock concert.

Hee! I was just coming in to mention Everyone Has AIDS. So wrong, but hysterical. Also, I can not believe the lack of reference to my personal favorite movie song moment - the mini-music video scene in Donnie Darko set to Tears for Fears Head Over Heels. The first time I saw that, I got goosebumps. It was just a great movie moment.

Hm, I'm a little late to this thread, but I have a fewthat I can think of:
In Peter Pan (the newest version), when the parents are running down the hallway and the kids are just flying away with Peter, the score is perfect. That's probably my favourite part of the movie (the rest was ehh) and I feel so bad for the parents.
In Napoleon Dynamite, when he gets the brown suit and walks down the road afterwards, the music is awesome and perfect.
And LaconicDude loves the moment in Kill Bill Vol. 1 just before the showdown at the House of Blue Leavesm, when the Crazy 88 are walking down the hallway in slo-mo and the music there is perfect too (wait, there is music, isn't there? There must be. I can't recall it but he loves it, so I figured I would mention it).
So basically, the conclusion is that I am obsessed with people walking or running down hallways or streets in slo-mo with great music. I didn't realize how similar they were until I posted, heh.
As an honourable mention I should add the scene where Natasha Lyonne and Clea Duvall are making out in But I'm a Cheerleader, because the music there is all little strings (I think) and it's so quiet and sweet.
Oh, and the moments in Return of the King where Pippin gets taken away with Gandalf, and when Frodo and Sam are rescued by the eagles, and when Arwen goes back to Rivendell to confront Elrond. The music is perfect in all of those scenes. And in The Two Towers when the Rohirrim charge out of the keep, and then when Gandalf shows up with Eomer and company at the top of the ridge. And in The Fellowship of the Ring when Sam runs after Frodo and Frodo realizes he must leave and then Sam almost drowns. Perfect.
Okay, I swear I'm done now.
