Claire Danes would be a good Melanie in GWTW - she can do frail-but-soldiering-on to a tee.
I'm not sure about AJ as Scarlett - she seems very laid back and not Irishy enough. I'd suggest Catherine Zeta Jones if she had a smaller waist - it would hardly require any effort on her part!! You need someone who can look impatient and spiteful as well as overwhelmingly beautiful. I'm not sure Vivien Leigh could be bettered, looks-wise.

Unfaithful with Monica Bellucci as Diane Lane's character, Eric Bana as Olivier Martinez's character, and Vincent Cassel as Richard Gere's character. Seriously, any movie with Monica and Eric Bana getting it on is okay in my book.
Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling can basically replace any onscreen couple with zero chemistry.

I would have recast either Emma Thompson or Hugh Grant in Sense and Sensibility. They were actually reasonable choices for their individual roles, but I just didn't even remotely buy them as a couple. (Love Actually got it right by casting them as brother and sister.)
Emma Thompson was so good I'd probably have to replace Grant by default, but I do have a terrible time deciding who with. Linus Roache or Toby Stephens, perhaps.

That's funny, I thought Owen Wilson would have been perfect as Ludo Bagman in Goblet of Fire, if only for the fact that he's described as blonde with a nose that looked as if it had been broken two or three times. He would have been a good Lockheart, though. Branagh was fine, but came across as more clueless than sleazy, which is the vibe I kinda got from Lockheart.
Oh, the pretty! That would have been nice. It's too bad, Alan Rickman is a damn fine actor, but he's far, far too old to play Snape. (He's 59 years old when Snape is supposed to be in his mid-thirties.) And unfortunately because of that, all the other people who are supposed to be his age have to be casted older, too. Ewan would have been wonderful as Lupin. Never considered Clive Owen or Jude Law, but I kinda like the idea of them. Incidentally I think Tim Roth was asked to play Snape, but he turned it down to do Planet of the Apes. He's only 44, so I suppose that would have been a little better.

I've been trying to mentally cast Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff for ages now. I never seem to get any exact mental matches (partly due to the enormous age ranges and partly due to the fact that most of the actors I know are too white) until I started watcing House, M.D.. Jesse Spencer is totally Raizel the angel. The man was born to play that role. The rest are just speculative - mucho movie make-up would be needed to keep the visual travesty of the cast of The Last Temptation of Christ to repeat itself. And the age thing is a fucker too - I didn't really try.
Possible Joshuas - Lee Williams or Jamie Bell Possible Maggies - Zoe Saldana, Lena Headey or Robin Tunney Possible Biffs - Johnny Depp, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers or Sam Rockwell Possible Bartholemews - Johnny Depp, Billy Nighy, Hugh Laurie or Martin Freeman Possible Marys - Jessica Lange or Nastassja Kinski Possible Kasmirs - Aishwarya Rai or Monica Bellucci

Given the announcement of the new Dallas movie with John Travolta as J.R., J.Lo as Sue Ellen and Luke Wilson as Bobby, I'd like to make some casting suggestions:
Pam: either Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway or Rachel Weisz
Cliff Barnes: Ewan McGregor, Ralph Fiennes, Eric Bana, Jeremy Northam or Jason Isaacs
Lucy: Scarlett Johansson
John Ross: Jamie Bell
Kristin (Sue Ellen's sister): Catalina Sandina Moreno

May I recast a precast?
I read on laineygossip.com that Katherine Heigel is in talks for the role of Claire in a movie version of "Outlander." For love and money, can we please recast that precast? She will sully all things I hold dear about Gabaldon's books, she's so not right for Claire. Maybe Rachel McAdams; she's got both comedy and drama chops.
But Heigel? Come on. That'd be like casting Adam Sandler to play Harry Potter.

Seriously, any movie with Monica and Eric Bana getting it on is okay in my book. No way! Bellucci's a goddess. Maybe if they reversed the genders and had an uptight guy discovering himself by cheating with a female artist? But then it would be too "Fatal Attraction". Actually all of those people are too sexy for the "Unfaithful" plot.
