I only just found out that Jerry O'Connell was the fat kid in 'Stand by me'.

That's correct. And if you are wondering why, here's the definition.

::extra, super, teeny-tiny quiet voice:: Oh. Okay. ::scurries back to the void of non-hipness where she obviously belongs::

Upon my fifth viewing of The Incredibles I finally picked up on the silliest little joke.
Violet says something about Jack Jack being the only one not to have powers "and he's not even toilet trained". Dash responds "Lucky". Then he quickly adds "about not having powers I mean".
I finally picked up on the fact that he clearing himself of the idea that not being toiled trained was a good thing.
It was also years before I figured out what the line "for Hester to win just one more A" from The Music Man meant. And I had read "The Scarlett Letter".

The first time I saw Pulp Fiction there was a scene where someone asks Bruce Willis what he's been up to. Bruce Willis answers, "Oh, smokin' cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo." I thought, huh? but somehow had the feeling I should know where that was coming from.
The second time I saw part of it with someone else and he said, "Damn, now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all evening!" As soon as he said that I realized the line was from that old Statler Brothers song. But Bruce said it so deadpan I never connected it with the lyrics from a song.

Ok, I am officially an idiot. I just realized that Hack Scudder on Carnivale is played by John Savage. I knew the actor's name sounded familiar, but I couldn't place where I had heard it. So, 2-3/4 seasons go by and I finally check IMDb. Apparently, in all of my stupid glory, I completely erased the fact from my brain that John Savage played Steven in The Deer Hunter. Now, that may not be a big deal to some, but for someone who loves the movie enough to use a picture of Walken from the film as her avatar, and a quote from the film as her Personal Text has got something to feel foolish about. Jeez.
