We watched Evita in my senior year Spanish class in highschool, and about halfway through that song a girl in the next row had an "I so just got that!" moment. It was pretty hilarious, because she just burst out, like "OH! Crying like yelling, not tears. She's saying 'don't shout for me, I'm just like you!'" Oh, Man. All these years and, yep, didn't get that! I wonder if I should apologize to my friend for pointing out that she was getting the lyrics wrong when I myself was misinterpreting them.

Yikes! My imagination created this whole scenario for the song, when all I needed was a little common sense and a thesaurus!
I've never seen any version of Evita, but I have some cursory knowledge of Eva Peron's life/death. figured it was some sort of post-death tribute with the spirit of Eva Peron reassuring the people that she would never truly leave them. I jumped straight to that assumption, never bothered to listen to any of the words beyond the ones already mentioned in the thread.

I don't know if this is an "I SO Just Got That" or a throwaway joke that we appreciate but in The Emperors New Groove when Kronk and Yzma are out in the jungle and they camp out at night, she is in this huge tent and he is sleeping right outside her tent with this little tiny tent that couldn't even cover one foot. Well if you look, I swear it's directly over his crotch. Not his waist or chest or even head, but definitely over his crotch. I just thought it was funny because of the old line "pitching a tent". Hee!

Pitching a tent? What's THAT a euphemism for?

I could have sworn that Art Garfunkel was also a painter, making it both a play on his first name, and his painting hobby, but having just googled "garfunkel painting" and spent more time than I ever wanted to on his website (nope, no mention) I can't find anything!
Am I crazy, or doesn't Art Garfunkel paint watercolors?

Bart Simpson's famous line, "Eat my shorts" - came from the arguement between John Bender and Principal Vernon in The Breakfast Club. Man, I feel dumb for having not figured that out sooner.
Reminds me of when I finally figured out that the "They're all gonna laugh at you!" from Adam Sandler's comedy tape is actually from Carrie. Carrie hears that exact line right after the pig's blood is dumped, and she's about to destroy the gym.

The first time I watched the new version of Ocens Eleven I didn't get the poker scene where George Clooney appeared at the table and Brad is telling the kids what to do. I thought there was some tension between the two but actually Brad was suckering them into handing over more cash!
