Honest to god. Can she never go grocery shopping because she might see a Diet Pepsi and melt down? I understand she's had an ED, but come on.

The weird thing is she posted a photo of her smoking a bong the other day for 4/20. So walking into a store and seeing a “diet” product is triggering, but posting photos of drug use (I mean, I know it’s just weed, but she also has a problem with sugar free cookies) is not potentially triggering for others?

For those saying she should watch it in a grocery store- you think she shops in a grocery store? My guess is that doesn’t happen.

Demi needs to develop some personal coping skills instead of expecting the world to change for her overnight. She said she was trying to help all the people with eating disorders, but let's be real, this triggered her and her alone, because she still needs to learn make her way in the world and understand that not everything diet related is aimed at her or an attempt to harm her personally.

Pretty much. My first thought when I read this was, "if going to this yogurt shop is triggering for you, then why not just send an assistant to pick up the dessert for you?" I feel sorry for her mental issues, but she also has a lot of resources at her disposal to avoid situations like this if they are triggering for her.

Slightly off-topic, but Jennette McCurdy,** who played Sam Puckett on Nickelodeon's iCarly TV show, is about Demi's age. She once wrote an essay about her struggle with bulimia. On one occasion, McCurdy actually brought her therapist with her to a Teen Choice event where food was being served, because she knew the stress and scrutiny would make her feel like purging.

I don't know the full extent of what Demi's issues are, but maybe she could look into hiring a therapist/"assistant" to be with her on a daily basis to help her cope, if she needs it.

**This part of McCurdy's essay, in particular, made me think of Demi:

Since so much of my identity had been built around the framework of disordered eating, I literally had to relearn how to think in order to rebuild my identity, which was as painstaking and uncomfortable as it sounds. I thought recovery was about walking along white sand beaches with a soft smile while wearing crepe pants ― not sobbing for half-days at a time or falling into a dark hole of depression because suddenly the thing that determined the largest part of who I was for 13 years was now gone.

The reason I don't indulge is because consuming a potent appetite stimulant is really not something I need in my life. I'd be storming the froyo shop and taking down that whole cookie display. I don't know how someone like Jenny Slate can talk about ripping into a bong and then downing two pizzas and still have the amazing body she has. It baffles me.

I'm sure it's offensive and insensitive to all of her many issues, but perhaps not consuming a substance that physically stimulates the desire to binge eat might be a good idea for someone whose biggest struggle is with bingeing and purging? Just a thought.

I feel like she's invited my thoughts on the matter since she decided the minute aspects of her disordered eating struggle are everyone else's problem too.

I hope Demi gets treatment for her narcissism because IMHO that's her biggest problem.

That wouldn't be the first thing she's lied about.

I also agree Demi's problem is her narcissism. But I don't follow her enough to know if she has other symptoms. She might have narcissistic tendencies, though.
