Sunshine Cleaning. I expected it to be quirky, but more of the humorous quirky than the dark quirky. Mr. Shrew didn't like it. I thought it was just okay. When the mister and I saw it at the theater, he didn't like it so much that I was banned from picking movies for a year. I didn't think it was that bad.

Techincally I didn't rent this, but Bedazzled was on last night and I just love that movie, in all it's cheesy goodness.
We netflixed Up In The Air, which was pretty interesting, but dragged in spots. The disc before that was the A-Team, which was goofy 'splody fun.
We watched about 5 minutes of Paranormal Activity 2 until the ghost/demon went near the infant and I was like, 'Oh hell no'. I'll watch demons messing with teens and up, but no kids.
I also saw Trick R Treat, which I thought would be awful, but it was actually pretty clever and interesting. Lots of good actors and an interwoven storyline that kept the story moving. Not a lot of gore, either. Lots of surprise scares. I recommend it a lot for horror movie fans.

Holy crap, I LOVE Bedazzled. I saw it one day when I was home sick. I loved BF most as a Colombian drug lord.

The Social Network. Eh, the Oscars, really? I did like how Larry Summers was depicted as such a fucking clueless douchebag. If only the President would catch on.
I wanted to love this movie and I really, well, didn't. I didn't hate it, but was pretty nonplussed. I thought the Rashida Jones character was beyond formulaic, the party scene at the beginning was stupid, but Eisenberg, the guy who played Eduardo and Timberlake were great.

We've gone old, old school -- been on a Netflix tear of Brother Cadfael movies. So much fun ...

I rented No County for Old Men since I'm just going through Best Picture winners and I don't understand the hype. I thought the movie dragged and was just waiting for Josh Brolin's character to die because it was inevitable and also because he was so stupid. I didn't understand how the movie won Best Picture but then I saw the movies it was up against and none of those were great either.

The Other Guys. Meh. I laughed out loud a few times, and there were a couple of good running gags, but overall the movie just didn't come together. The writers came up with the buddy cop spoof idea and then had to write a movie around it. It just didn't work.

Amadeus. Is really what passed for Best Picture material back in the 80's? I mean cause this was baaaaaaad. Heavy handed, overdone, bad acting. Just bad all the way around. The scene where Mozart sees his father and the music gets all dramatic was just so melodramatic - I laughed so hard I almost fell off of the couch.
And the acting....oh my. The little troll playing Mozart was annoying (that laugh was a major distraction) and the actress playing Constance was just god awful. And really unfortunate looking. I guess the movie works great if viewed as a comedy but I don't think that's how it was intended.
Watched A Single Man last night. Colin Firth was excellent and heartbreaking - the monologue on fear was very powerful. I don't think I could watch this again as it was way too affecting and I ended up in tears more than once but it really was a well done movie.
