divasahm awesome story! From your vantage point to Ryan, do you think we'll "see" you on TV this January?
Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart, who were from the Lee DeWyze / Crystal Bowersox season, are performing for free at Universal Studios Hollywood on Saturday. My might-as-well-be boyfriend and I are going to make a day of it with front of the line passes at the park and see them perform. Free and Fun!

You may well see us! We were right behind him, about five rows up, and that camera was in our faces a lot today!
Speaking of former Idol stars, Nikki McKibbin (third place from Season 1) was there and Ryan asked her for her advice to the hopefuls. Girlfriend looks rough, but she was upbeat and spent the morning visiting with friends and fans.
Mr. d called ds1 on our way to her summer stock tech assignment tonight, and she told him, "Dad, it was all about marketing--you'd have loved it!"

That's interesting about the process. It never occurred to me that they just kept on going back to certain cities to see people. I just figured that the judges went in after they did the weeding out, and got it all done in a few days with the people they were given to promote/trash. Maybe that's how it was done in the early days before this diva judge bullshit started (not that Simon wasn't a diva, but he seems way more no-nonsense about business than a Mariah or JLO would be).

Oh HELL no, not Randy!
I love Harry, but JLO and Randy are pretty unbearable. Keith Urban is useless, JLO will giggle and call everyone awesome, and Randy will tell everyone that they are a dawg who is in it to win it.

I was so looking forward to a Randy-free season. God, he's useless. At least Jimmy would rip a strip off a contestant that wasn't delivering. Randy will just shake his head and chuckle, "Dawg, dawg, dawg." I'd love to have one of the vocal coaches get an on-camera commentary spot so we got real, technical criticism.
I hope Harry really lays into them. The show's been unbearably toothless since Simon left.

I haven't watched AI in years, since David Cook won. But I've been a huuuuge Harry Connick Jr. fan for years, so I'll be tuning in. I did watch him judge last season, and he knows his stuff and hopefully will be pretty constructive.
