Just saw this and really, really, really enjoyed it. I can't wait for the sequel. I thought Mcavoy and Fassbender really held the movie together. The only thing I had a small problem with is Jennifer Lawrence. There was something about her performance that was off for me. I don't know if it's her voice or inflection but I thought she did just okay. I was far more interested in Mcavoy/Fassbender scenes than anything with her. Is it just me or does Jennifer Lawrence's voice sound just like Kate Hudson's? I thought she was fine, but not outstanding. I've never seen any of the other movies or read any of the comics (I saw it solely because of James McAvoy, whom I adore) but had no problem following along and overall really liked it. Just as a cute aside, when I was walking out of the theater I heard a kid of about 10 or 11 say to his dad, "That was a really good movie! Thank you for taking me"--which I thought was really sweet.

I liked it. Not as much as the original XMen and X2, but MUCH better than X3 or Wolverine, both of which both sucked and blew. Liked the Bacon (as always), liked the cameos, and Fassbender and McAvoy. Special effects were excellent.
I thought that Lawrence was beautiful, I am excited about The Hunger Games.

Heh. Seems like this movie is getting a few snarky tweets. The YA author, Sarah Rees Brennan tweeted this:
It did bug me that there was zero motivation to Zoe Kravitz' character's decision to join the villains and yeah, I knew the black guy would be the one to bite it. Hollywood: still a long way to go.

I have to admit that it did bug a little that every single female character was at one point either naked or in their underwear. Did any of the male cast even take their shirts off?

I'm usually reluctant about prequels, but this was bright and fun. The two leads are remarkable; I saw a brief interview with McAvoy and Fassbender on HBO and their chemistry together is off the charts. But yeah, Fassbender looks much better with darker hair.
January Jones was awful. The lack of continuity with the other X-Men movies bugged me a little, too.

I think they're trying to start a new continuity, but with nods to the old one. Hence the cameos.

I really enjoyed this one. I liked the drama and everything.
The only off parts was after being horrified by seeing all these men killed right in front of them, the butterfly girl still went with the bad guy. What was that all about?
Loved the cameos!
I was so distracted by how skinny Rose Byrn and January Jones were. Soooo skinny.

I was so distracted by how skinny Rose Byrn and January Jones were. Soooo skinny. I know. I read somewhere that Jennifer Lawrence said that she wasn't going to lose weight for Hollywood (I know, they all say that at the beginning) and her body compared to those 2 was noticeable. It's sad that it was noticeable because Lawrence is hardly Christina Hendricks, but so few actress feel the need to have any flesh at all between their skin and their skeleton and a slim girl looks curvaceous in comparison. Lawrence's body did look hot. She should stick to her word and keep those extra 2 pounds or whatever because it looks good on her.

I, too, thought that Lawrence had a fantastic body. Curvy, yet toned.
