Damn it! I knew that we should have stayed after the credits rolled. Way too many people were staying in their seats.
I hate to be the lone naysayer, but I thought that it was long and boring, and Chris Evans was Blandy McBlanderson. Did like the British gal and Bucky- he was hot. And as always, love love love Stanley Tucci and Tommy Lee Jones, who were the scene stealers. Until Samuel L. Jackson showed up, of course. I can't WAIT for the Avengers!!!
My husband wanted to know how they made him skinny in the beginning. It was my guess that they did what they did with Armie Hammer in The Social Network and put Evans face on someone else's body.

Evans said they did that for some of the scenes, but for most of them it was his body shrunk down with computer wizardry.

Borokat, I'll sit with ya in the corner. I thought it was kind of dumb. And Evans, although handsome, was yes, very bland. Don't get the hype at all.

It really engaged me the entire time, I thought Chris Evans did a great job playing a good guy without being two-dimensional (and without any jokey lines to fall back on). Hayley Atwell pleyed off of him really well, I actually liked her character, unilke so many female leads in these type movies.
The other actors were very strong, too; no weak links to take me out of the movie. I liked the bookend scenes and extra scene at the end; but the cuts were way too quick in the latter. Rather annoying.

FiggyP, I thought the cuts were too quick too! The movie has completed 2/3 of its shoot, though. Got that info from the CC panel. They've got my money. I'll be there.

Thanks for spoiling the after credits scene. I knew I should have stayed seated. It's just I went to the movie alone and I always like to cut out right when the movie ends when I am solo. It's less embarrassing.

As appropriately lustworthy as Evans is, I got more enjoyment out of Tucci and Jones, the latter dialing his performance way down for a cartoony role and winding up the star (for me). It was a lot better than I'd expected but I wasn't expecting very much, so I kinda feel like Nomi Malone in saying that it didn't suck.

Yeah, with Marvel I just automatically sit around till the credits...and since I legitimately love movies, it reminds me how many folks it takes to pull that sh*t off every time. I think the only Marvel movie without a teaser was Thor (?) and the whole audience hissed.
I liked Evans because, wow, cute. (I did wonder how his pants grew with him in the chamber, but hey, no biggie.) I loved the scene with <<<the kid who says "Go get him, I can swim!">>> My audience was great, which always helps--lots of hoots and clapping. I was disappointed with the villain's unmasking, just b/c I think Hugo Weaving is f*cking rock star who managed to be in the Matrix & LOTR simultaneously, and I wanna see his face at all times.
I think he had a skinny double at points too, with him giving the performance and a bit of Winklevoss switcheroo going on. I was kinda disappointed with the ending, because I was hoping for more <<<40s era heroism>>>. Oh well. After the teaser the audience went ballistic.

I saw this at the opening midnight show while visiting my friend in Jersey and it was a lot of fun. Several dressed up geek dudes as well. Cute as Evans is, it was all about Sebastian Stan/Bucky for me. Leighton Meester was (is?) one lucky gal.
I am kinda sad I saw this though because I just found out my new rural PA home has a Drive-In that's playing this and Transformers 3 as a double-feature this weekend. That would be a blast!
I liked the retro feel and tone. Same director as Rocketeer, apparently, which explains a lot. (Which, speaking of, how has that yet to receive a BluRay/Special Edition/etc video release? WTF?)

Thor did have one at the end of the credits. It involved Loki.
