This was a really good flick. It was slow at points but overall, they did a great job. I loved the ending. I found myself wondering why they decided to set it in the 40s and it all made sense at the end.
Absolutely. They were my favorite performances.
Yes the directing and, especially, the cinematography were wonderful. It was very much like a comic book come to life, which is exactly what you want from a movie like this.

They've been sowing the seeds for Avengers throughout IM, Hulk (Norton's version) and Captain America. Samuel L. Jackson has appeared in every film, except Hulk. In Hulk, RDJ shows up and mentions the team he's joined, which is S.H.I.E.L.D.

I wondered that too, but then I noticed that they were way too short on him afterwards. They looked a bit like manpris.

I just saw it tonight. I was entertained, mostly, the ending surprised me, and I liked the portrayal of what he was doing on tour. And I loved the title graphics at the end. I did check my watch several times. Hugo Weaving, as always, killed it along with Tucci and Jones. The asskicking parts dragged, but it was pretty okay and better than I'd thought it would be.

Thor did have one at the end of the credits. It involved Loki. That's so weird, just today I thought, I said Thor but I think I meant X-Men... roisin, good catch on the manpris!

Saw it last night and enjoyed it. Although I completely agree with whomever said upstream that Chris Evans was "bland." He was saved by all the great acting going on around him.
Beautiful eyes, but zero charisma.
(Although it's quite possible that Robert Downey Jr. has forever amped my expectation levels in this area for superheros to a completely unattainable level for anyone else.)
Loved the female lead. At the end of the movie I just kept thinking: "please don't put her in peril and make him save her, pleeeaaase."

Speaking as a fan of Chris Evans AND Robert Downey Jr., I found the film a fun time and I enjoyed it immensely. That being said, I'm not sure I want to see The Avengers though. It's a bit too much for me.
Besides, next year there will be three comic book movies coming out: the next Christopher Nolan installment of Batman, the early Spiderman one, and the Avengers movie.
Overkill, anyone?
ETA: The Superman reboot will open in 2013.

I have no intention of seeing the Spiderman movie. I am invested in Avengers because they've been sowing the seeds of SHIELD throughout all of these movies. I kinda want to see how they work & play off each other.
Dark Knight Rises is a no brainer. It's Batman. It's Bale. It's the end of the Nolan trilogy.

What Witchie said. The only Avengers movie I haven't seen is the Edward Norton Hulk, and I read a detailed enough plot synopsis that I think I get it.
