I have no intention of seeing the Spiderman movie. I am invested in Avengers because they've been sowing the seeds of SHIELD throughout all of these movies. I kinda want to see how they work & play off each other. Dark Knight Rises is a no brainer. It's Batman. It's Bale. It's the end of the Nolan trilogy. Ditto. I may see a matinee of SM depending on reviews, but how different can it be from every other version?

I thought the same thing, but the buzz on Spiderman coming out of Comic Con was pretty good.

Emma Stone is my new celeb dream girlfriend. That's reason enough in my book.

The preview for Spiderman made it clear that they are going to throw a lot of non-canon elements to change it up from the purer 2002 version... I'll stick with the latter and avoid the new version, because I like my Peter Parker just the way Lee & Ditko intended.
As for Captain America, it felt more like Indiana Jones with a fair dollop of Star Wars thrown in, especially with the motercycles racing throught the woods and the Hydra stormtroopers marching in formation. The music and styling reinforced that for me, and the whole "Nazis looking for magic shit to win WW2 with" was very familiar indeed.

Today I finally got the chance to see a matinee and much to my surprise I really enjoyed it.
Chris Evans is indeed very very bland compared to the rest of the cast. And oy, while I generally do like Stanley Tucci, his German accent was so so cliché. He could have had a role in "Allo Allo." The overall feel is really great, you can see attention was paid to the surroundings and sets.
A definite B+ in my book and a good summer block movie. If only we'd also have the accompanying summer weather.

I thought Evans did a pretty good job. The character was old fashioned in a way that a lot of people today don't find interesting but I still liked him.

I liked Evans & his performance as well. I didn't see his original role 'supporting the troops' coming, so I thought that arc was hilarious. And people applauded at the end... I'd say I've heard more applause at the end of this season's summer movies (blockbusters & others) than I have in years.

That was a nice twist. I expected him to be Capt. America, war hero immediately, so when he was relegated to the sidelines, I was shocked. Side note: That damn song is still in my head. I thought it was very realistic for that time period. I liked it. I liked Chris. He had an earnestness that was endearing.

I liked his performance too. The progression through the propaganda shows was excellent, how he went from awkwardly reading his lines to fully committing to the cheesiness to getting mocked by the soldiers and being brought back down to earth and drawing himself as a trained monkey. I think he did really well with all that.

Emily Van Camp (Revenge) has been confirmed as the female lead, more than likely Sharon Carter, for Captain America: Winter Soldier. DeadlineI'm iffy on this casting. We'll see.
