So in the middle of this long article about Marvel's cinematic universe vs. DC, there was a tantalizing bit about Cap 2:

Writers and directors know what they’re getting when they come to Marvel. “They had a very clear idea when we came to the table. They had a good draft of the script,” says Anthony Russo, who with his brother Joe is directing Captain America: The Winter Soldier. “They had a very good idea of what they needed and they gave us what we needed.”

In this case, say the brothers, that means they’ve been allowed—even encouraged—to make their Captain America into a 1970s-style political thriller, very different from the first movie’s 1940s war-film vibe. Joe name-checks The Parallax View, Three Days of the Condor, and All the President’s Men as inspirations. But that’s stylistic; the story comes straight from the comics, specifically a recent, terrific run by writer Ed Brubaker. The Russos even consulted directly with Brubaker to get it right, they say.

I don't know if they can deliver on that fully, but I'm tentatively excited. The first Cap was a really pleasant surprise, and I like a lot of the supporting cast the sequel's picked up (Mackie, Redford).

Does this thread go for the sequel too? I saw it today (I was locked out all day & literally had no idea what else to do after hours at the library and cafe) with a crazy enthusiastic crowd and it was awesome. It is incredibly intense (it skirts an R rating) and you really do have to stay for ALL the credits but...great fight scenes, spy stuff, shit blowing up...all that good stuff. If you watch Agents of Shield there may be a very minor spoiler but not worth mentioning.

TTMR & I saw it this morning, and I freakin' loved it. I love Chris Evans as Captain America, and I totally want to make out with him. I didn't tell that to my husband but I probably could since I'm sure he wanted to make out with Scarlet Johansson.

I've never seen Evans as that dynamic an actor but in this case he's totally found his niche. I was just staring into his eyes (and at those eyelashes!). Sigh. Anthony Mackie made it hard for me to concentrate as well. So many muscles. SJ was kickass too. I really enjoyed the whole thing, and was excited to have caught at least half of the Marvel nods, lol.

CE has been in some bad movies but he's usually the best thing about them but he just is CA now. I just got out of the movie and I thought it was amazing. Everyone shone in this movie and even with just a few lines, the Winter Soldier was sufficiently menacing.

On a very shallow note, Chris' eyelashes indeed were gorgeous...as were other aspects of his form.

Indeed, I could take whatever faults the movie might have if they had sufficient shots of his butt. Yum.
