She is gorgeous in pictures, but her "acting" can be painful to watch. I was watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes a while back and my kids were like "what's wrong with her?" She always looked like she was working out the muscles on her face. Hey, maybe that's why she was so photogenic!

Yeah, her weird muscle ticks demonstrating what her character is "thinking" is a style of acting that is really really dated now.
Weirdly enough, I wonder if that is who Courtney Stodden is trying to imitate when she makes all of those weird faces she makes during interviews.

Well, I think in movies like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Seven Year Itch- she was playing a type where she was supposed to be basically a bombshell blonde- personality need not be included. (I remember watching Seven Year Itch and being bugged by her overplayed ditziness) However, I thought she did some nice turns in All About Eve, Some Like it Hot, and especially How to Marry a Millionaire. HtMaM she was pretty much playing a parody of her own persona- and it was HILARIOUS. I remember being surprised she could actually pull that off without it being embarrassing or painful. All About Eve was a small part but she carried it well. And I gotta give it to her for Some Like it Hot- because apparently she was stoned out of her gourd for the entire filming- and yet somehow managed to remain vertical long enough to deliver her lines and show some genuine emotion. I'd never say she was "genius". But among the stars out there more famous for their looks and personal lives than actual acting abilities, she was above average. Back on topic. I'm fairly ashamed of this. But I really love "White Chicks" It's a terrible movie, the make up is hideous, it makes no sense... and yet I can watch it again and again and wish for the Wayans' White Chick characters to go on having adventures... What's WRONG with me?!?!?

I agree that Marilyn Monroe was very photogenic and good at playing ditsy but really was a terrible actress.
My unpopular opinion is that I have no desire to see the new "The Avengers" because of a very petty reason - I absolutely love love love the 1960s TV show which has nothing to do with this particular Avengers movie and I'm still mad that Uma Thurman/Sean Connery/Ralph Fiennes f***d up the movie version of the British TV show. Also, I hate super hero movies. Hate.

I'll also give her credit in that she seemed to know her limitations, and tried to improve upon them. She studied acting, spent time at the Actor's Studio, and really wanted to rise above her image. That's why she did films like "The Misfits" with Clark Gable.

That Avengers movie pissed me off so badly, I got pissed about how pissed I was! First? Uma Thurman is a fine actress. Not my favorite, but quite talented, really. But no way in Hell is she Emma Peel. Aside from the fact that she essentially already played her in Austin Powers 1, they should have gone with Elizabeth Hurley as Mrs. Peel. Second, and even more importantly, Steed would NEVER, NEVER NEVER kiss Mrs. Peel like that, unless it was an absolute certainty that Mr. Peel was in fact dead.

The only good thing about "The Avengers" remake was that trippy boardroom scene with the rainbow bears and Sean Connery. The rest was nothing short of "awful".

It's fun to spot actresses like Anne Dudek and Jennifer Carpenter.

Me and the kids really enjoyed watching Jack and Jill. We didn't intend to, it just kinda happened. The same thing happened one day when we came across Grown Ups. These movies are just silly and fun. There are a bunch of chuckles and a few good laughs. What more do you want from a comedy? We also like looking out for Adam Sandler's daughters cause he always gives them a quick cameo. They are always so cute.

I know I'm supposed to like her, I really am, but I find Judy Garland to be awful. Maybe it's because I don't like musicals and don't really "get" vaudeville, but I haaaate her work. Her voice sounds like the bleating of a goat. I'm watching a Garland documentary right now, and it's killing me.
