I fell asleep during "The Notebook" and really liked "Lars and the Real Girl".
"Better Off Dead" is an awesome, awesome movie (Gee Ricky, I'm really sorry that your mom got blown up).
The only John Cusack movies I like are; Grosse Pointe Blank, Eight Men Out, Better Off Dead, and One Crazy Summer. Otherwise...meh.

Cameron Diaz was actually great in Being John Malkovich. It is a neat movie. On this topic am I the only person who finds Catherine Keener attractive? I have stopped mentioning her to friends because they all look at me like I have lost my mind. Not traditional I know, but attractive in my eyes.

I thought Catherine Keener was gorgeous in 40 Year Old Virgin. Hot grandma indeed!

Nic Cage was so good in Adaptation that I can't imagine anyone else in the role. That's right, I said it. On the intertubes, where nothing dies.
Also? Adaptation is a deeply underappreciated movie.

I also loved the soundtrack to Grosse Pointe Blank, but my favorite John Cusack movie was Better Off Dead. Extremely quotable. "I want my two dollars!" His more recent films? Not so much. He seems to have lost the irony that attracted me. Some time after "Say Anything" he seemed like he started to take himself very seriously. And for years he refused to talk about movies like "Better Off Dead" (which is awesome!) and "One Crazy Summer" - basically trying to pretend that they didn't exist because he was too big of a star to have gone silly movies like that. That's when was dead to me. "Better Off Dead" was my favorite movie in the world when I was in grade school. I so wanted to be that French exchange student.

I've just joined the collective of three dozen people on the planet who actually really like Gus Van Sant's "remake" of "Psycho". It ping-pings between homage and camp parody so aggressively that I seem to enter a fugue state of devotion. The casting of Vince Vaughn as Norman is so wildly *wrong* that it forces viewers who've seen Perkins' portrayal to unpack all their memories of the original and weld them to the experience watching of this version.
Van Sant's careful choices of what to retain from Hitchcock and what to alter, as well as the hypersaturated color palette, cause a really delightful mindfuck in my consciousness while watching a master filmmaker take on the *phenomenon* of the Hitchckock movie and play with the expectations of audiences as versed in the original as they are the Bible.
I watched it twice, back to back, and think that the widely-discussed "experiment" Van Sant set out to do is a lot more complex and culturally resonant than mere imitation.

An Affair to Remember sucked. Cary Grant is wooden to me like Jenifer Aniston is wooden. Looks great in clothes, but one facial expression. Gregory Peck, now we're talking!
Cameron Diaz or Sandra Bullock should ditch comedies and stick to playing bitches in dramas. Cameron leaped off the screen in She's The One, Any Given Sunday and My Sister's Keeper. Bullock in Traffic, was amazing. They made money, but Bad Teacher amd The Proposal were so not funny. She and Reynolds had zero chemistry in that movie, but they make a cute couple.
