I like Blue Crush, it is one of my favourite guilty pleasure movies and all these years later I still want Kate Botsworth body. I wish she and Orlando had stayed together as well.

The new Little Women was terrible. And Greta Gerwig is overhyped because the direction was terrible, especially with a young Amy. She was supposed to be a bratty child, emphasis on child, yet she came off like a petty teenager. I was watching the same scenes between this version and the '94 version on youtube for comparison, and my God how this version pales in comparison. Then the constant back and forth between time frames was irritating especially since they kept the same actress for Amy. How is a 23yr old portraying a 12yr old? Makes no damn sense.
I know lots say she was snubbed for best direction, but nah, she didn't deserve it because it was terrible. Even the way Laura Dern said her lines compared to Susan Sarandon when Amy burns Jo's novel didn't hit right. The Amy reaction when Jo cut her hair also didn't hit right. The movie itself shouldn't have been nominated.
It was also irritating to know that every sister is not American. The only highlight of the movie was Saoirse honestly. She and Winona were equally good as Jo.

I cannot stand The Family Stone. I know I'm supposed to think it's hilarious, but that family treats SJP AWFUL from the second she walks through the door and like she's the most unlovable, unworthy person in the world. Seriously, fuck this movie.

And the mother going on about how she wished all her children were gay seemed MUCH more about her self homage as a progressive person than about her children's happiness.

I want SJP to scream at all of them that she was going back to the city (via helicopter? I don't know) and have an abortion!

The conversation in the Ben Affleck thread reminded me that I have never been able to get past the first 15 minutes of Dazed and Confused. I'm curious what people love about it.
Diane Keaton's character is the worst thing about this movie and there's a lot of stupid stuff in there, but I don't completely hate it and it actually seems quite realistic to me. And I wouldn't say they ALL treated her horribly, they were cordial enough at the start and her stiffness made it awkward.
Also, she made some ridiculous choices, like continuing to insist on staying in a separate bedroom after finding out that her choice was going to put someone else out of their own room and onto a couch for the holidays. And randomly inviting her own sister to the home of a family she just met? Weird.
Actually, the more I contemplate it, it IS a pretty bad movie in a lot of ways (Claire Danes' performance irritates me for reasons I can't pinpoint) and the reshuffling of the couples is kinda dumb, but it has its good spots. Like the pregnant daughter curling up with her mom once she realizes she's sick, Luke Wilson being unaffected by SJP's stiffness, and Rachel McAdams giving one of the few performances of hers that I actually like.
I'm convinced that Rachel McAdams was born to play the bitch and any character that attempts to make her into the nice one doesn't work for me.

Good day to be reminded that I loathe Groundhog Day. As much as I love Bill Murray, this movie lost me after about 30 minutes.

People HATED them, and that's saying something, as most period movies have bad costumes (and the historical sewing community in general loves to nitpick historical dramas). And the fact that it won the Oscar for costume design made it 10x worse. There's no way it should have beaten Jojo Rabbit. I mean, there is a scene where the characters are literally wearing Ugg boots. Much accuracy!
