No doubt about it the lyrics are crappy. As a young music lover..22 years old.I was brought up with The Beatles playing all the time(both parents are fans).Their music will be here as long as the world survives.Every composer has good & bad projects. The fact is old Sir Paul had the best performance at last nights Grammys with his rendition of Helter Skelter...good old rock n roll..at 64 he can still do it.

Deadduck He might deserve a lifetime achievement award, but all of his recent lyrics have been crap, Freedom is not an isolated incident and I don't believe he deserved the grammy. I don't doubt that he's a fantastic entertainer, but his recent creative attempts have fallen flat.

SL-I know, I know. He is no longer with the times. I guess I am not either. Snivel, cry, snort. I will put away my grumpy old man shoes for another day. I will not say "Back in my day" I promise.

I agree that "Freedom" is crap, but it was one song that he has since disavowed. He was trying to writing a "Give Peace a Chance" type anthem and it didn't work. When you read them, though, "Freedom"'s lyrics are actually no worse than that song (which people claim to love). It's actually a bit better, because it doesn't have the nonsense word verses (yes, "Give Peace a Chance" actually has verses):
His new album is fantastic and actually lyrically quite strong, "Riding to Vanity Fair," "Too Much Rain" and "Friends to Go" particularly. Ironically, my favorite song on the album is actually the weakest lyrically: "Anyway." The lyrics are pretty simple, but they fit the absolutely gorgeous melody and piano.

Does anybody know where I can find a link to the performance? I refused to watch the Grammys last night, but I'd like to see how he did.

I'm not particularly a Clarkson fan, but I can't hate on her for winning. Mainly because I know that Paul was probably tickled to see a new young star win. He's got a ton of Grammys and awards already, so it's a bit old hat for him. Funny that it was 42 years ago now that he won Best New Artist. Here you go, Abby/With Jay-Z and Linkin Park

Man I totally disagree. Chaos and Creation is a great CD. I think that his recent work has been great. It's had a lot of real depth - probably because of his loss. But it's a beautiful CD.
That said Freedom is craptastic but I figure every artist gets a miss once in a while. In the balance he's had a heck of a lot more hits then misses.

It's being reported all over the British tabloids. Paul is splitting up with Heather I was hoping that she wouldn't get any money but apparently she will receive upto 200 million in case of a divorce.

Well, I hope it's not true.. there's a little baby involved.
I LOVED Linda... such a wonderful down to earth woman. I loved the stories about how they lived with the 4 children in a little country house - all cluttered with children's art work. What kind of house do these two (and the baby) live in?
