So this last episode was terrible. I'm usually a Girls apologist in that even when the episodes are uneven I can enjoy where they are going but not this time. I think the Adam character has overstayed his welcome. The whole storyline with the dog-napping and horrible owner from Staten Island just wasn't good enough to spend time on. Marnie and Hannah drifting apart is more of the same. Not even a cameo from my beloved Ezra Koenig could make this entertaining. It's funny b/c last week's episode was all Hannah and Patrick Wilson and yet I found it alot more interesting than this one with the whole ensemble.

I thought it was terrible, too (literally, during the episode I was sitting there thinking "Wow, this episode is BAD"). The worst thing about the entire episode was Allison Williams's "crying." It was even worse than Sarah Jessica Parker's used to be on SATC. And yeah, I just totally hate both Adam and Ray, so having to watch both of them together for that long really didn't do it for me.

Last night's ep was worse than last week's. I don't at all mind a detour from the familiar milieu of their small circle in Greenpoint but this was awful. The problem is the show only reaches its potential when the four leads interact with stronger actors. Last week was better because Alex Karpovsky and Jorma Taccone elevate the material. A whole episode about Jessa's dysfunctional family in upstate New York doesn't work b/c Lena and Jemima are not great actresses. I know Jemima more or less embodies the spirit of the character but she's hopelessy adrift when the writing requires heavy-lifting in the acting department. Then again this ep wasn't written by Lena and Hannah felt a little off (at least for the miniscule growth she's gotten this season) too.

I just can't figure out why any of these girls are friends with each other. They all seem so miserable and treat each other so badly. And they're miserable with all the men they come across too. It's season 2, it's time to show us some real affection or something .. somewhere. Some of the lines are funny, though. I guess that's why I still give it hope.
I joked before about how often we see Hannah naked and/or having sex. It's like sitting on the toilet - just because you do it everyday doesn't mean we need to look at it. Cue an episode where she's pulling down her pants, having sex, AND sitting on the toilet. Hat trick!

I laughed out loud when she was sitting on the toilet because I realized that sitting on the toilet was one of the few things we hadn't seen her doing and there it was!

I actually didn't mind that episode because I felt it gave some context to why Jessa is such a flaky cow.

Yossarian, I would not have minded the depth being added to Jessa if the writer included some actual comedy. Hannah fucking the awkward 19-year old stepbrother (for future e-book fodder no doubt) was not funny, it was typical.

I mean, did we really need to see her ass when she pulled her pants down? Really?

Yeah, I don't think the nudity is done that well. It's naturalistic, but a bit too much so for me. It's like she's trying to be as close to real life in possible, but in real life how many of us want to see each other's asses squatted over a toilet? Or mid-change into a bra?

And I swear that she deliberately puts herself in the most god-awful clothes she can find. Who wears that shit? All those jumpers and short shorts/blouse combos.
Why would anyone in life LIKE Marnie? What am I missing there that she's got any friends or boyfriends at all? I guess the same could be said for Jessa.
