NBC is REALLY, really desperate for this to become a hit, based on the amount of ads they ran during the Globes. Also, I like how they are all "we're premiering it the Monday after the Superbowl." Why not try it out after the Superbowl itself if they want a hit? Anyways, "introducing Katherine McPhee" is the most hilarious credit ever, considering that Hollywood has been trying to make her happen for years. Which, she, like Fetch, is never going to happen.
The pilot is available (and free) now on Itunes. I'm downloading just for Miss Huston & the cute guy from Coupling all silver foxed out. It can't be worse than Glee's current state.

I am kind of vaguely interested in this...but with Gossip Girl, 90210, Ringer, ANTM, Project Runway, Days of Our Lives, Jane By Design...not to mention the shows I watch with Husband...how many more can I take on!?!? Let me know if it's worth trying.

Not watching it. I didn't like Katherine McPhee on AI, so I seriously doubt I'd like her on this. And she's been acting for a few years now so the "Introducing" bullshit is incredibly irksome.

Kat McPhee has an alright singing voice, but zero charisma. When Debra Messing deadpans, "She's a star." it's like they are fucking with us. The show thinks it's Fame meets Sex and the City, and every small town girl hits it big story rolled into one; when it's really a dusted off version of Showgirls without the hilarious fuckery. It will be fun to mock MST3K style for the 3 weeks (I'm calling it) it will be on. But McPhee had her chance, and we voted no. The entire concept is so trite anyway. Stay in 4th place NBC, and keep making bad decisions. You should be trying to spend ad time on Community.

The thing I don't get is why, if the entire show hinges on the whole "here is this brand-new face looking to make it who is insanely talented but naive about Broadway," the showrunners didn't just go full-out Scarlett O'Hara with the audition process or have their own little mini-AI/The Voice search.
You can't sell me as Kat being a "break-out star" if, after four (five?) years in the industry, she's barely made a dent.

I just watched the pilot on iTunes and it wasn't terrible. I don't find it as ridiculous as Glee, but it'll be interesting to see how well they carry it as a mid-season entry since the previews they showed seem to have several episodes in the can.
I don't know. It may be a hard sell, but this music-dance-make it big shtick is all the rage these days.

It might be a bit too insidery, but it was entertaining.
Was anyone else amused at Debra Messing's non-"Grace" singing? ah, nostalgia for the early 00's.

I didn't watch. I couldn't stand that they were showing commercials during the Macy's Thanksgiving parade in 2011.

I just can't get into McPhee. She doesn't have the charisma at all to sell this part, and why were all the judges so astounded by her talent? Please. I really, really wanted to like it but the way they wrote her is a big problem. She's not a star talent...not yet. They should have built on that some more.

I barely made it 20 minutes before I turned it off. I didn't find any of the stories or actors compelling enough to keep me from going to bed. Maybe I'll try again next week.
