Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden

I was very surprised there was no thread for the only female heir apparent to a royal throne today. Apparently, she is presently dating a gym owner but has no intentions of marrying. She also suffered from anoerexia.

So what is the deal with her boyfriend? I've heard that her parents don't approve of him, that he is not a suitable consort. True?

Victoria and her boyfriend have been together for about six years. He is sometimes called her "fiance" but no wedding plans seem to exist at present. It could be the heir to the throne syndrome. Even though Victoria's boyfriend is a business success, he is still a commoner. Since Victoria will one day be Queen, who she marries appears to come under great scrutiny. Perhaps the King and Queen would prefer a royal prince for a son in law.

Well, since Queen Sophia was very much a commoner before her marriage to Carl XVI Gustaf, and a German commoner at that, I don't know that Victoria's parents have much ground to stand on.

Her name is Silvia not Sophia and she is of German and Brazilian extraction.

Erp, yes, Silvia. I've been reading about Istanbul recently and have the name Sophia on the brain.

I remember back when Carl XVI Gustaf was a young bachelor - my grandmother was visiting Sweden and sent my sister and me a postcard with his picture on it. Very good-looking young man, and Silvia was beautiful. Still is, actually. The girls have good genes, and, yes, they're lovely.
