The ceremony was nice and those two are really cute with each other. I loved how she wiped away his tears after she put the ring on his finger. Carl Philip is still kinda hot and looked super proud when his sister walked into the church.

Thanks for the link, mimmilina! Everything looks lovely! On one wedding board I read, it seemed like she was getting a lot of crap from the the Church of Sweden because she planned a wedding that looked more American-Hollywood, and less Swedish Traditional, including walking down the aisle with her father and having her father give her away rather than the usual custom for Sweden, which is entering the church together with her groom. Any info on this?

Yea, the Swedish custom is that the couple enter the church together: no father giving away the bride. Victoria insisted she wanted her father to give her away, and a lot of church representatives thought this was an unwanted "import" from Hollywood movie-weddings. Many also expressed the opinion it is an antiquated custom that makes the bride a piece of property handed from father to husband. I was surprised she was at all willing to change the Swedish custom in this case, considering who she is, but I guess it was very important to her. I did feel kind of sorry for her to be attacked for expressing her wishes on her wedding day: regardless of being the future head of state, she is also a woman who wanted to have HER kind of wedding.
Apparently many priests in the Swedish church will advise people NOT to go with the "father hands over the bride" thing, so it isn't like they criticized just Victoria for doing it.

Yes, there was a big brouhaha about this before the wedding and in the end the negotiations between the royals and the church officials led to a compromise: Victoria's father walked her halfway down the aisle and the bride and groom walked the rest side by side. Meh. Some claimed that this was a private matter and that the bride and groom should be free to make their own decision about the ceremony. Others pointed out that this was hardly a private thing, as the royals receive a large chunk of the taxpayers' money every year, the wedding is broadcast to millions of people and Victoria is the future Head of State. As such, it would be unfortunate if she chose a type of ceremony that has no basis in Swedish tradition. There is important symbolism in the traditional Swedish ceremony: the couple walk down the aisle and stand in front of the altar side by side, to show that this is an equal union, entered into willingly by both parties. In recent years the American tradition has gained popularity among couples (who've probably overdosed on romantic Hollywood movies) and the Church of Sweden is not happy about it. Personally I'm glad that the church representatives didn't give in completely, but I'm also a bit disappointed that Victoria wanted a "Hollywood style" wedding in the first place.

What a beautiful bride. There certainly are some good genes in that family.
