I rather like Mabel's wedding dress, but that thing she wore to Victoria's wedding looks like a Holmes/Yang disaster.

I hate the cameo tiara she had to wear, but she pulled it off as well as anyone could. Everything else was perfect, and it's nice to see her look like she was enjoying the hell out of everything.

Her dress was wondeful. She has great shoulders, so the neckline was perfect. I love how all those awful tv brides- "I'm a princess for a day!"- end up wearing the same enormous strapless dress, when no actual princess would ever wear a strapless gown. I'm guessing there were modesty guidelines. Because, judging from reactions I saw on TheKnot.com ("Princess for a Day" central), how could any modern bride willingly wear something that covered? And they hated that her dress was "too plain." A princess needs bling, ruffles, feathers, and more bling! Personally, I loved her gown. But like Victoria, I know my wedding day isn't The Most Important Day Of My Life(tm). (Granted, I'm not going to be a ruling monarch someday, but I do have perspective.) From what I could tell on The Snot: 1. It sucks that she had those pesky modesty requirements. 2. Too plain. And her husband is fugly.

Correct me if I missed something, but I noticed that the female royals all had covered shoulders--except for Mabel.

Her dress was elegant and classy, and I loved the neckline. I'm well over all the cookie-cutter strapless dresses we see these days.
Was her veil an heirloom? It was beautiful. Pity about the cameo headgear, though.

Pity about the cameo headgear, though. The veil was her mothers, since Victoria married on her parents wedding aniversary. Her mother, and all her aunts, also wore the cameo, which was made for Emperess Josephine by Napoelon-the Swedish royals are decended from Josephine through her granddaugher and namesake. I've gotten into royal stuff in the last few months, and my mom was even into watching someo f the wedding with me. I think she'd like to adopt VIctoria or Daniel.

The modesty rules are slowly getting stretched. All the royal dresses used to be long sleeved. There was a minor to-do about the sleeves on Diana's dress - 3/4 length was the shortest they could go. And uncovered shoulders would be utterly scandalous. Even a couple of years ago, Autumn Kelly had to wear a little bolero jacket over her dress when she married into the British royal family.
Victoria and Mary of Denmark both had boat neck dresses that left their upper shoulders uncovered, which I think is the most exposed a royal bride has ever been (not counting Monaco trash).

God, I am sick unto death of the endless strapless wedding gowns. And I have friends who, unfortunately, did not have the figures to wear them and wore them anyway. Sad.
I love that Victoria and Daniel look so happy together, but they kinda look like brother and sister to me!
I LOVE the cameo crown/tiara! But I love cameos, and it looked perfect with the dress. Victoria is lovely and stately enough to make so large a headgear work.

I thought her dress was lovely and well made, they looked very happy together. I watched the entire service at a Swedish site. Didn't understand anything but it was touching nonetheless.
