Kinda like Philip with Martha.
The Day After really was that scary (as a kid) and I remember it having a really sad ending. This was a pretty tense time in the Cold War and a nuclear attack seemed like a real possibility. I loved that scene. Very effective.

I do feel for Elizabeth too but at the same time I hope Don doesn't give in to her upcoming blackmail. I assume that's the plan, she threatens to tell Young Lee unless he gives William access to level 4. I hope he refuses, tells Young Lee what happens (or what he thinks happened), she forgives him and the plan blows up in their faces.
The Day After is on YouTube in its entirety.

I totally remember "The Day After" being "Event TV" and being pretty freaked out about it as a kid. I thought the show captured that perfectly.
Ugh, poor Don! He was really just trying to be a good "husband of a friend" and this is what he gets for his trouble. I do think, for once, Elizabeth feels bad about this. Too bad her Mother Russia love is still so all-consuming.
I also liked the juxtaposition of Elizabeth using her often-used skill set while Paige was taking her driving lesson and learning something new. And next week's preview looks crazy pants! Groovy Hair isn't as trusting as they thought and did the smart thing with recording what he knows.

Finally caught up. I came here to ask what Elizabeth's play was with the Korean couple. I obviously missed something when they were first introduced. I figured, after this episode, that it had something to do with the husband but I didn't know what. I'm still a little confused. What is level 4? Is it at the CDC or CIA?
Also, after the previous week's episode, when Gabriel told them to take a break and how it would like a vacation for them, I thought "No, as they have an actual business to run." Right? The travel agency is an actual travel agency if I'm not mistaken. What do the people who work for them think about their continued absences??

I can't remember which agency it is, but both William and Young Hee's husband work there. Young Hee's husband, however, has a higher security clearance. He has access to the really dangerous biological weapons. That's what Elizabeth is after.
I always figured Elizabeth and Philip were absentee bosses at the travel agency. They trust their employees to run things when they're not around, which seems to be a lot. But it is a bit of a plot hole that none of their employees get suspicious.

so, that was a sad way for Gad to go, I think most of the FBI they have on this show are dumbasses, but I liked what John Boy was doing with the role. Did I miss something though (I've been half-assing my watching this season so I may have missed some details along the way) but why were the Russians wanting to strong-arm Gad?

The Russians saw an opportunity with Gaad. He was a disgruntled ex-FBI agent whom they could target for intelligence. I don't know what their play was (could have been blackmail or just plain buying the information), but killing him clearly wasn't part of the plan.

But it is a bit of a plot hole that none of their employees get suspicious.I've had two jobs where the boss disappeared for days on end. I was always baffled at how the company stayed afloat and made money. I remember joking that one of my bosses had two families and was dividing his time between the two, but now I wonder if he is a spy. I wish we could have found out what the proposal for Gad was. Im so curious.

Makes sense, but knowing Gaad (thanks for spelling correction) the Russians weren't likely to get too far with him. Now this is another thing to add to Stan's angry and bitter arsenal, this on top of Nina and Amador he's really going to go off on some Russians when he gets a chance.

Is anyone else of a certain age, and caught what Paige and Elizabeth were watching on tv when she was home from school? On General Hospital back in the day, they had a Russian spy storyline. A Russian spy took over another character's identity: Grant was a SPY Or has this been going on all season and I just now noticed it lol.
