Last night's season premiere was good! This season is going to be crazy. The whole story line with their fake kid is nuts.* Pretty sure Elizabeth already likes fake son better than either of her real kids. 12. I hope Stan does not end up being the one to catch E & P. He is very dumb, and he was careless and stupid in dealing with Nina. He kept getting commended because he would stumble onto things and get lucky. His style is be suspicious of everyone without cause, investigate, and once in awhile, find something. I agree. I somewhat feel sorry for Stan, he is such a sad sack. But he is not good at his job at all. He didn't have a clue about Martha and does not have an inkling about the Jennings. They do seem to be laying on his cluelessness even thicker this season with him joking about them all moving in together. *I've read some interviews with the creators and I know they have some ex-Russian intel as technical advisers and they do a ton of research. But even still in the past I have to admit that some of the scenarios they came up on the show seemed too elaborate to me. Like would the Russians really go to that much trouble? But honestly after this past election year in the States I buy everything they do.

When Stan was telling the story about "meeting someone" at the gym, oh he was so pathetic.

When Stan was telling the story about "meeting someone" at the gym, oh he was so pathetic. Basically Stan in a nutshell. The creator, Joe Weisberg, is former CIA. He actually has to submit all his scripts to them to get a seal of approval before he films (I guess that's an agreement he made when he left).

The premiere sucked me right back in. I hope they make Paige a little less annoying this season. I laughed at the idea Elizabeth likes her fake kid better than either of her real ones - so true. She seemed more relaxed telling him to decide where they were going and then acting exhausted about Paris. She never jokes with her own kids like that.
I really hope we get some little peak at Martha. I can't imagine adjusting would be easy for her.

How the hell do I watch this NOW without cable? :/ Do you have a Roku, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV or the like? You buy the current season and each new episode appears around 3:00 am or so the day after it airs. That's how I do it. This show is so gripping. My mind never wanders, I don't want to leaf through a catalog, or text, or be distracted in any way while I watch it. I thought the scene in the car where Philip and Elizabeth talked about not having gone home was very well done. Just a few words, and very little movement, but their heartfelt and diametrically opposed positions just oozed out of their pores. I want a happy ending for Oleg.

I giggled when I read this because Mr. Ladybug falls asleep every episode. He likes the show, but he says something about the tone and the pace of it makes him extremely sleepy. It definitely does not put me to sleep, but some scenes are more attention grabbing than others. I love the scenes of the Soviet Union during this time period. I have recently watched some Cold War documentaries and the daily life of people while all of this is going on is very interesting to me. I'm also trying to get into Secondhand Time by Svetlana Alexeivich (about the end of the ussr) which has been on my Kindle for a while now.

If you told me that they recast Henry I would believe that. He looks so different now, he really aged between seasons.
I wasn't really into the whole Misha story line but I felt so bad that he came all that way and Gabriel just sent him back. Philip is going to go ballistic if he finds out.
I loved Elizabeth's whole look as Brenda.

I loved Elizabeth's whole look as Brenda. I've been thinking the same thing about Henry. I loved Philip and Elizabeth's differing reactions to realizing they'd killed a completely innocent man. Philip was well and truly horrified, while for Elizabeth, it was just... unfortunate. Philip is going to be very, very angry about the Misha situation. I think the institutionalization has the potential to turn him. Elizabeth's a true believer, but Philip seems to be more of a realist. Totally agree with Philip that Stan's new girlfriend is a plant. I laughed so hard when Oleg walked into the matchmaking dinner party. Also, how can a man look so good in those bad 80s Soviet clothes? I rarely go for dark eyes, but that man is definitely on my all time top ten list.
