I loved Elizabeth's whole look as Brenda. I want her earrings! (I think I had her earrings!) I so appreciate the arc since Day One Philip has been on. He's always been more into capitalist America and less about loyalty to Russia and that's grown with each season. There's no point to her if she's not, so I definitely agree with this. I really am fond of Oleg (and the actor is super charming).

I love how this show is heavy and serious and then throws something like that pick-a-wife dinner (contestant number 3 is someone that grew up on your very street and played with you as a child!) And each woman was different, because his father wasn't sure what he goes for (you want a blond? Ive got a blond right here.) I'm usually bored with too much of the side characters, but I hope Oleg stays.
I agree with everyone else about Misha. I predict it will be a problem between Elizabeth and Phillip because Elizabeth won't react as strongly. She will think the Centre is doing what they have to do and rationalize it. Phillip will blow a gasket and will expect Elizabeth to side with him.
Either way Paige couldn't handle learning about her long lost half-brother right now (which will be another reason Elizabeth will be okay with them hiding him).
If Stan's new woman is a spy, I predict he suicides before the show ends. Martha/Phillip/new girlfriend betrayals will be too much for him. I don't really think there can be happy endings for too many of the characters.

The most important question from the episode - what was that "food" young Philip's father brought home? Moldy bread? Rotten Potatoes? It looked like black rocks. Juxtaposed with the McDonalds adult Philip ate with Tuan. The food supply theme of this season has me noticing what everyone is eating and how they use food in the story.
What if Stan's girlfriend is a US agent of some kind because they are worried he's flipped?

Did anyone see this week's episode? The scene with Gabriel and Martha was gut wrenching. Her life is ruined and she knows it.
Philip is going to lose it soon. The bio weapons in Afghanistan pushed him closer. He's about to lose Henry, Paige is a mess, when he finds out about Mischa, it's over, he's gone.

In different ways, both their lives are so empty: Martha's because she got conned by Philip and is now paying the price and Gabriel's because he willingly 'gave' his life for the cause. Yeah, when he spat out that maybe Tuan wanted to get sent back to VietNam because he was sick of if all, his disgust with himself and Mother Russia was clear.

Don't forget about when the Russian defector told him the problem with the wheat was that it was still transported by horse and buggy and spoiled by the time it arrived.
Maybe that will be the big end result of this season, Philip finally deciding he's done and next season will be fallout/showdown with Elizabeth.
Poor Martha.

Aww Martha got a happy ending! Well sort of, she's still exiled in Russia but she finally got the child she wanted. I found this season overall a little boring. The Americans has always been a slow burning show and I usually like that. But it felt like there were a lot of story lines that just kinda petered out. Mischa, Kansas City, Pastor Tim after all that was pretty easy to get rid of. Tuan was an interesting character and what he did to Pasha was awful but I honestly have no idea why they were trying to convince that family to go back to Russia. I'm sure some of the plots like whatever is going on with Oleg will carry over to next season but it felt a little like they are saving all the good stuff for the last season.
That being said I am looking forward to the final season. I have no idea what is going to happen. If you asked me in season one I would say that the last season would be Stan figuring out they are spies. Now I don't think they will do something that straightforward. I don't even know if we'll ever find out if Stan's girlfriend is a spy.

Yeah, I'd agree this season felt a tad slow--like the whole thing was just exposition to get them to the final 10 episodes.
A few random thoughts:
- I hope this is the last time we see Martha, so I can just pretend she's living out a HEA. Her little smile at seeing Olya, and thinking she could adopt her, was her first happy moment in years.
- I thought the montage during "Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road" was interesting, in that Elizabeth seemed to be acknowledging how much she was going to miss all her American life comforts. Yeah, she's still scarily dedicated to Mother Russia (evidenced by the last scene), but she's enjoying U.S. capitalism more than she's willing to consciously admit.
- The Kimmy stuff will never not be creepy. All I can say is thank god it's platonic.
