I'm still hating Raj's girlfriend, Lucy. The actress is awful - making faces is not acting. And I also wasn't pleased about Sheldon & Amy last night.
The show is just using such obvious gimmicks in order to advance the plot. They want Raj to finally get a girlfriend so they come up with a fellow social phobic for him to work out his issues with. And they need to move Sheldon & Amy forward so they do some lazy board game BS instead of showing real character evolution or emotion.
I don't think I'm asking too much. There was a nice moment last season when Sheldon realized that he cared about Leonard and was worried about him getting hurt by Penny's relationship dithering, so Sheldon went to Penny and said, "Please don't hurt my friend." It was sweet. And there have been other moments when Sheldon was able to identify an emotion and do something about it - hugging Penny on a few occasions comes to mind. Why can't they just have Sheldon mature and become more emotionally aware and start connecting with Amy in new ways?

I thought that Sheldon demonstrated some growth in the episode last night, when he told Amy that he thought their relationship was intimate. No, they haven't progressed in any physical way (at least, not in the way Amy wants) but at least he's open to the idea.
I'm a little annoyed with some of the comments on TWoP, claiming Sheldon is still a child, or child-like. Uh, no. He's in his early 30's and asked Amy to be his girlfriend when she could've easily chosen Stuart. They clearly only want to be with each other, which is nice.
And man, I'm starting to dislike Penny. Between the duck faces, put-downs, and constant drinking, has she any value to the show? I honestly don't know what Leonard and Penny see in each other - like Professor Proton said last week, "What do you two talk about?"
Lucy is okay, in small doses. She and Raj have a lot of issues to work through. I thought Kunal Nayyar really sold it in the scene where Raj tells her he likes her.

I think Sheldon is progressing at a perfect pace. I don't expect someone with his plethora of quirks to change overnight, but he's an adult who has genuine feelings for a woman for the first time in his life. As he said to Amy, for him, their relationship is very intimate. I feel bad that Amy isn't getting the physical intimacy she wants ( yet) but she knew what she was getting into. And Sheldon is advancing.

"I threw my underpants on stage at a Garth Brooks concert" is such an Amy line. I loved it.
Raj and Lucy aren't doing it for me. The actress is just too much of a try-hard.

Yeah, that's pretty much my take on the character. In the last ep, she hid her engagement ring so she could flirt with the customers - classy! Sure, Leonard's a whiny puss, but his issues are fixable. In Penny's case, to quote Ron White, "You can't fix stupid".
I am enjoying the outraeg!!! at IMDB over her ultra-short haircut.

So they dealt with the death of the actress who plays Howard's mom in a very tasteful way. I did wonder how they would write it in, if at all, but they did a good job.
And typically, Sheldon wants to say something and everyone is assuming it's going to be something inappropriate and/or mean and/or tactless, but instead it was nice. "I didn't have any friends when my father died, but you have all of us." Aw, good job, Sheldon.
I did expect a screen shot at the end with a pic and the actress's name, with "Dedicated to" or something, but they didn't do that. I wonder why.

I know they lost an actress they all loved, but couldn't they have just re-cast the voice of Howard's mom? Her character was the focal point of a number of ongoing plots that now remain unfinished. It's not like they couldn't have explained a slight change in her voice in a number of ways, and it's clear they never intended to show the character.

I thought it would have been really funny if his mother's voice suddenly turned into Bernadette's voice.

I like the way they did it. What unfinished plots involved Howard's mom? She gave Stuart money to rebuild his comic book store, including her retro furniture, so it seems like that plot was sewn up. I can't think of any unfinished business with Howard and Bernadette, beyond their typical ongoing mother-son dynamic.
The character was overweight and unhealthy, so her dying was not unexpected. I think it was good to have the apron strings cut, once and for all, for Howard.
