I just came from seeing this and I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. It was like Old School funny (if you liked Old School). I thought McCarthy & Bullock had amazing chemistry. A lot of goofy, physical comedy, but just a lot of funny quips too. I'd recommend it.

I just came from it too, and I totally agree. It was so much funnier and better than I thought it would be! The trailer totally made it look like a stinker!
Melissa McCarthy has such incredible range. Sandra Bullock, not so much, but at least she's excellent at her particular shtick.

I am happy to hear this because I liked both ladies and thought that this might be a 4th of July vaca weekend flick.

I loved it, it was so much fun. And I appreciate that they didn't make Melissa McCarthy do a fake Boston accent. Everyone in her character's family was hilarious. And I may have squeed a bit when Joey McIntyre showed up as one of her brothers, I've loved him for most of my life.

Melissa McCarthy is definitely the standout in this film and I love how they cast her family.

Oh man. The previews I saw looked so painful and dumb I felt embarrased for Sandra and Melissa. But now I feel all excited about seeing it maybe. Can anyone who's seen it tell me if it would be ok for 14 year old boys to see (i.e. nothing super graphic/sexual but some jokes or innuenndos ok). I'm going back to visit with my Godsons this weekend and this will determine whether I suggest a whole family outing or a leave the kids with their dads and me and their mom/aunt have a Girls Night Out.

I think it'd be fine for 14 year olds. There is some violence but no blood or gore at all that I can recall. There is some innuendo, but the only real sexual activity is {Spoiler}Melissa McCarthy's character briefly making out with a character played by her real-life husband.

I think the R rating is more for language (Melissa is quite prolific in her use of the f-bomb) than anything else.

We saw it today, pretty good, I really enjoyed the casting. I would have liked to have seen more of Melissa's family. Michael McDonald (of MADTV not the singer) makes a great villain.
(Have to confess the BEST thing was seeing a preview for Simon Pegg's new movie.)
