12 Years a Slave will be in around 750+ theaters this weekend, up dramatically from last week. Lupita won Best Supporting Actress at the Critics' Choice Awards. Here's her acceptance speech.

I hope she wins the Oscar. I didn't see anything award worthy about Jennifer's performance tbh.

I haven't seen 12 years a slave yet, so I don't really know anything about her acting. But she is ridiculously beautiful, and she's so incredibly elegant. There is something so rarified about the way that she carries herself that comes across in still pictures before you even hear her speak. I think she has a great career ahead of her even just based on that.

She's fresh out of drama school and she carried the role of Patsy with such natural (and astonishing) ease. Regarding the Viola Davis thing mentioned up thread, I see Lupita having mor opportunities than Viola. For one, ageism is alive and well in Hollywood so I see that being in her favor. She's just the right age for love interest roles that, according to Hollywood, Viola has aged out of. She also is radiantly beautiful in a modellesque (sp?) sort of way which will probably allow her to play "object of desire" roles (seriously Hollywood do better with roles for women). She might be the new Thandie Newton.

The Academy loves actresses who ugly up for a role so add that as a bonus point for her cuz she's absolutely gorgeous. I'm rooting for her for the Oscar.

What an elegant, poised young woman. I haven't seen "12 Years A Slave" yet either. Not sure if I am going to, but wish her all the best with her career. Aw, I totally cried when she talked about her uncle. That really just made me shed a tear. What a sweet moment.
