That is a one and done for me as well. Sam and Tobias, there must have been so much trust between them to pull off such raw and emotional scenes.

I thought Sam did a tremendous job during the aftermath of his character, and Tobias is pretty fearless in making his character as hateful as possible. You can tell that all three actors have a close bond.
For me the creepiest part was Black Jack letting his hair down to be more like Claire so Jamie would get it up. It was gut wrenching.
Two asides- I'm totally side-eying the author for being excited for this episode. What a sick puppy! And another full frontal shot of Tobias. I'm telling ya, these three actors have been nude more often than clothed this season!
I heard season 2 comes back in spring of 2016.... I guess Starz learned their lesson.

Is Randall just evil or did something happen to him in his childhood?

I think he's just a sadist.

She wrote this long piece (I saw it when Caitriona Balfe retweeted it) about at some show Q&A she said she was most looking forward to seeing Sam raped and tortured for the season. Can you imagine if a male author said this? She's constantly talking about his ass, etc. It's really inappropriate. I think the show runners felt they had to include the rape/torture b/c it's such a big part of the book/character, but would have preferred not to have to include it. I read the first Outlander book, but her choice to victimize her male hero made me not want to read the other books. I guess she really wanted to show that she wasn't writing a romance book.

Yeah, after watching this ep I'm side eyeing the author even harder now. I'm glad at least the show took Jamie's rape and aftermath seriously.
I wonder if Claire will watch Doctor Who when it airs in the 60's? If so, I imagine her reaction will be, "Fixed points? Shit. No wonder my ingenious plan to stop the uprising didn't work out!"

I just read a good article in NYT. Diana again talked about the rape being her favorite scene. Now she's saying she wanted to see just what the actors could do with the material because it was the most challenging. She praised Sam, but really went out of her way to praise Tobias for being fearless. I would be so annoyed if I was Ronald Moore having to deal with all of her notes. She claims she's standing up for the fans, but it seems like she's just a control freak. Let's see what season 2 brings.

I don't know if they could've gotten away with not doing that scene, but hopefully they're open to taking a divergent path, like GoT has. (Not that that show is perfect, by any means.)
