I'm really surprised there aren't more time travelers out there stuck in time. Claire only figured it out because she was wearing jewels during her first journey and the one back home. Everyone else just seems to be really stuck. I am pissed that the other time traveler didn't at least try to help her. I think he had opportunities long before the Fraser clan came to her rescue. I really wonder how things are with the actor that plays Fergus. He just doesn't do or say hardly anything at all. It's really a massive waste of his range and charm. I mean, we get a bit more from Marsli, but honestly, they HAVE to pick up the pace with Marsli and Fergus. They are Clair and Jamie's adopted son and daughter-in-law, Marsli thinks of Claire like a Ma and Jamie like a Da. Honestly, you can't just shut them out completely. We crave for something more, please! I wish we would see more from other time travelers (even this guy, who didn’t help Claire). I think it would add an interesting wrinkle. We haven’t really had one since Geillis, and she was just nuts. I mean, a whole bunch of Native Americans traveling back to try to change history would be interesting! But we barely meet them before they croak. The actor playing Fergus must be completely bored, as I suspect most of them are, but I’m not holding my breath waiting for them to figure it out. They killed off Murtagh, sent Lord John back to England (and told David Berry they won’t be needing him any more) and Fergus and Marsali mostly get to stand around in the background all so we can watch Bree and Roger. At least Ian has had some stuff to do, but I don’t count on that lasting.

I hope the producers and writers regroup for next season whenever that may be.

The book goes into a lot more depth about the Native American activists that can travel. It is an interesting storyline! It was a gimmick, but I liked the fantasy Thanksgiving dinner with the 1770s people in the 1960s that Claire imagined. I suppose this was a coping mechanism to get her through the trauma, dreaming of the people that she loved in a time that was safer for them from violence? If so, what was the symbolism behind not having Bree, Roger, and Jemmy there? Her fear for their safety going through the stones? I know fans complain about the later books shifting focus off Jamie and Claire, but I love that over the course of the books they have made a family with Fergus, Marsali, Bree, Roger, Ian, all the grandkids, they are the matriarch and patriarch. And eventually Willie comes into the fold. I had forgotten a lot about this book and the kidnapping, but I did not forget Jamie saying Claire took an oath not to kill, so he kills for her. That was a pretty badass moment.

It wasn’t a gimmick. It illustrated a coping mechanism that can sometimes happen with rape victims. They enter a dissociative state where their mind goes somewhere else. I read an article that talked about it. They had Claire imagine a Thanksgiving dinner with all her loved ones around. The absence of Bree and Roger is her subconscious letting her know that everything is not right. I didn’t notice until it was pointed out that all Claire says in the dream sequence is “No.” and “Jamie.” But Claire can’t hold onto the safe place and the Thanksgiving dinner spirals down to the notification by the police of Roger’s, Brianna’s and Jemmie’s deaths.
As for Claire not keeping her mouth shut in dangerous situations, that’s always been who she is. It’s part of her personality and even the time traveling Indian mentions it, saying that’s how he knew she was from the future — her lack of fear towards men. I don’t know if it’s in the series but I believe that in the books Jamie even brings up her inability to not antagonize even when she’s in danger. It’s just who she is, she’s not smart about it but she’s gonna say what she has to say apparently.

As for Claire not keeping her mouth shut in dangerous situations, that’s always been who she is. Oh, I know that's her personality. That's why I mentioned that you'd think that when she's in these situations (they happen often), she only makes it harder for herself by egging them on. Nothing that she says or does deserves rape at all, but they beat her up pretty bad long before that because of her words. I can open my mouth too much in my own life, but time has definitely taught me when to keep it shut. I just hate seeing her having to go through all that and her not growing and learning from her life.

Well, this sucks: Jon Gary Steel Leaving OutlanderYeah, he created that amazing dark arts room where Claire had to judge the two men for dark arts with King Louis...and well, EVERYTHING. The scenery of the sets really makes Outlander what it is. I always love to watch how mesmerizing the sets are and their aim for historic accuracy.

So, are they just going to let the show slowly bleed to death? With people leaving and being let go? Why the HELL would they get rid of John Grey? He has a ton of shit to do still. The kidnapping actually happens in the next book - they moved it up to this season for some reason, which might be why you didn't remember Ladybug.
