This wasn't my least favorite episode. It absolutely had its moments that I enjoyed. I'm sad to see Lord John go, but glad he can at least take Ulysses with him. Not that I'd want him to go either, but really, he wouldn't be able to continue the life he once had in North Carolina. When you mentioned Dawson's Creek, kostgard, I'm reminded of the town that ties these two shows together now: Wilmington, N.C. Outlander is now set in that town and Dawson's Creek was actually filmed there (and their High School mascot were the Minutemen, natch!) But you made the perfect connection with how the writers had to convince us that Joey/Katie had IT and that she is so fetch (had to do it). Clearly, something isn't right in whatever time the Mackenzies ended up in. Which could have a lot to do with the outcome of what's going on in the late fall of 1772. Did they change history to where the colonies remained under British rule? Did the timeline change based on which stones you use? I said it last week that I couldn't care less where/when they end up, just as long as they're on their own storyline that doesn't require me to watch them to still see Clair and Jamie. Maybe I'll get my wish or maybe they'll jump right back and try to fix what went wrong? I'm glad that Ian at least knows. I personally think that if they had told at least Fergus, that would be good. I did feel really bad for Lizzie though, but only up until she said that she was always there for her...right up until you got her husband beaten to a pulp and sold into slavery to the Native Americans, but you know, semantics. HA! But really, she was there for Bree and was a loyal companion. You could tell that Diana wrote this episode, which is maybe what it didn't 100% suck, but still had just the right amount of Diana's touch in it.

Judging from a recent interview with Berry, it doesn’t sound very encouraging. He said they were at one point in talks for the spinoff, but that currently he had no idea where that stood, making it sound like things had kinda sputtered out. Maybe he was just playing it cool or maybe it will still happen, but earlier in the lockdown he had some post on Instagram that was kinda all, “Hi. I’m unemployed” which feels like a weird thing to post when you know you have a big project coming.

I liked this episode but the first few minutes and the last few minutes just confirm why I couldn't live in the 18th century. Like no way.

General questions - Does each season follow one book? How many books are there? Does the show follow the books close enough? That's what i would like to know.

Does each book follow one season? Yes. How many books are there? Eight, for now. Diana Gabaldon is currently working on the ninth book. Does the show follow the books close enough? Generally speaking. They do take some major liberties with one or two character’s storylines but, as a whole, it’s close enough to the books.

Man. We were *thisclose* and Bree and Rog can't even time travel correctly. Shit.
This was so hard to watch, that's for sure. I had to mute it at times because they always do this to the main character. With the orange, I immediately thought of Claire and King Louis. She made a choice and she was still able to walk away, but only now she was even more wounded. Although, losing Faith wasn't an easy burden to bear, either. I really wish that we could have these characters living in the future and safe and not having to deal with all this crap. Just for once they should have some peace.
The storm at the end was foreboding. Storm's coming.

Yeah, it was like, “Everything is a shit show. And Rog and Bree are back.”
Honestly, Roger suddenly deciding that they were home in the 18th century, after his mother-in-law was kidnapped and raped and he had to kill a dude was bullshit. It would have been far more realistic if he was upset about bouncing back and was trying to deal.
All the misery made this hard to watch. At least 1960s Claire is always foxy and I really liked Marsali’s 1960s look.

I'm really surprised there aren't more time travelers out there stuck in time. Claire only figured it out because she was wearing jewels during her first journey and the one back home. Everyone else just seems to be really stuck.
Did anyone else ever feel that all Claire had to do when she was kidnapped is tell Lionel Brown that she had no idea why he was calling her Dr. Rawlings and when he mentions he saw her medical kit with the name on it, that she could have easily said that is the name of the kit from the doctor she purchased it from in Boston? That did he ever wonder if Dr. Rawlings put out this advertisements in all the various papers within the Colonies? It really wouldn't be that far-fetched.
Plus, his wife was the one that told Claire that she read about how to prevent pregnancies in that Rawlings article and not something Claire just blurted out to her during her visit. Honestly, this is shit is what allowed all his men to KIDNAP AND RAPE someone? That's insane, even for 1770s North Carolina. Especially if she was able to give a much more valid explanation.
And again, Claire will never learn to shut the hell up. Stop pestering and antagonizing your assailants! Screaming stop and no, of course, but why must you make them even more pissed off to the point they just want to beat you senseless? Hell, even that other time traveling Native American told her to stop. You'd think that after traveling in different decades, she'd figure out that no one in the 1740s/1760s/1770s wants to listen to a woman, who is considered inferior to men, insult them. Fool. I don't think she deserved all the beatings or rape at all, but she really makes it a lot harder on herself. Even Bree didn't go to those extremes when she was kidnapped by Bonnet. She went along with his game knowing that (most likely) her family would find her and rescue her. There is no sense in dealing with psychotic people and going against them.
I am pissed that the other time traveler didn't at least try to help her. I think he had opportunities long before the Fraser clan came to her rescue.
I really wonder how things are with the actor that plays Fergus. He just doesn't do or say hardly anything at all. It's really a massive waste of his range and charm. I mean, we get a bit more from Marsli, but honestly, they HAVE to pick up the pace with Marsli and Fergus. They are Clair and Jamie's adopted son and daughter-in-law, Marsli thinks of Claire like a Ma and Jamie like a Da. Honestly, you can't just shut them out completely. We crave for something more, please!
