They actually managed to make Jamie Dornan look less appealing. IRL he's quite charming, and does the creepy, good-looking serial killer very well in The Fall. But in this? He's as appealing as a wet paper towel.

This. Crap that's more than a whole year.
In the trailer it seemed to me Dakota Johnson was in on the joke, whatever unspoken joke there was. The male lead just looked generic and bland. From the books (OK, Jenny Trout's recaps :-P ) Christian Grey came across as a wired, manic, scruffy mad-scientist a-hole venture capitilist type, and in my mind I pictured a young Jeff Goldblum or James Franco. Jamie Dornan is just too uptight and yuppy. And that's all the analysis I'll give it to it.
The secretary at the beginning looked like Kristanna Loken from Terminator 3 and I could totally believe her domming the heroine rather than Dornan.

Here's what I was talking about earlier: Fifty Shades' Real Problem: Jamie Dornan Is Hotter Than Christian Grey. They cleaned, waxed, and shaved Dornan all up like they would have done with any actor for this role, I guess. I think they totally missed the mark. |

And Jamie Dornan is definitely hotter than good old foot-face, aka Robert Pattinson, who played the O.G. Christian Grey.
Also, I've recently discovered that one of the blogs I follow for recipe/lifestyle fun is written by a 50/Twilight fan. She's not feeling the trailer or the casting, and neither are her readers who are into this crap. So, that's not a good sign. Even the über fans seem meh about all the hubbub.

I don't know what the book version is supposed to look like but Dornan in the trailer looks like a Ken doll and has all of the sexuality of said doll. *yawn*
