She does this thing with her hands in pictures: 12345She's reminding me of Terry Richardson in that sense.

A lot of the Jennifer Lawrence comparisons started around the time Divergent came out. Divergent was often compared to The Hunger Games trilogy. I can understand how the comparisons could get annoying after awhile but she does get long winded. For someone who doesn't care she sure does get worked up over it!
And someone needs to sit her down and explain to her hugging everyone she sees is not a wise idea. She probably means well but there are many people who do not liked being touched and she's going to upset someone one day. Of course, as pleased as she is with herself she'll probably make that other person's problem.

Looks like The Fault in Our Stars is going to have a huge opening, I know there are a few members here that don't like her but she does look legitimate now..

I don't feel one way or another about her, but I think a lot of the credit for a big opening for the movie goes to the source material - the book. It has a huge following and has been on best seller lists forever. I know if I go to see the movie it will be because I really enjoyed the book, not because Shailene Woodley is starring in it.

Yeah, a know a lot of people who are very excited about the movie and it has nothing to do with Shailene. They just really love the book. They would have seen it even if Kristen Stewart was in the role. They would have been complaining but they still would have seen it. And yes, I know , being based on a hit novel doesn't guarantee a movie's success but it sure doesn't hurt it either.

I think some of the credit needs to go to Shailene. When Transformers or Iron Man open big, the male stars get the credit even though people are mostly going to see the movie because they love the source material. But, when female actresses have big movie openings, there is always a rush to find someone or something else to give credit to. It's happening all over the media.
Shailene has had 2 huge movie openings in Divergent and Fault. Yes, they were based on best-selling books but so were Beautiful Creatures, Vampire Academy, I Am Number Four, Percy Jackson and Mortal Instruments and they all bombed or really under-performed.
I am thrilled we are finally getting a new batch of female actresses that can open movies. It can't just be Melissa McCarthy, Angelina Jolie and Sandra Bullock.

I don't have a problem with Shailene getting a little bit credit for the success of TFOOS and Divergent. She probably does deserve a wee bit more credit for Fault since many in the fandom thought Shailene was perfectly cast. Apparently, she "looks" like Hazel. But I still think it's a little early to declare Shailene has arrived and can open a movie. Divergent and TFOOS have built in fan bases. Again, like I stated before, a movie based on a novel isn't a guaranteed success but it sure doesn't hurt it's chances either. Plus, both films did a great job with their marketing. You couldn't escape ads for either film and Shailene, to her credit, promoted the hell out of them. She even did the customary drop hints she is dating her hot male co-star in real life marketing. The true test will be when she has to open a movie with no built in fan base. Even male actors connected to big franchises have failed to do this.

Well Jennifer Lawrence got credit for the Hunger Games and it was her first major picture starring role. Hell people were saying the Xmen movie opening big was due to her and both franchises have built in fanbases. Shailene is annoying and bland as hell but she does deserve some credit for this movie at least.

I think one of the reasons Jennifer got so much credit for THG' success was that it wasn't even expected to do as well as it did in the end. Mainstream media tried to sell this as another Twilight, Jennifer's casting was met with a lot of criticism because book fans felt that Katniss had been white-washed. Josh as Peeta seemed to seal the film's fate as doomed in many eyes. And let's not forget the early reviews from some pretty big critics who called Jennifer fat because they thought that the title had promised them an anorexic looking protagonist they could lust after.
