Just saw this and had a great time. I love "band of misfits" movies and I have to say that I liked the embrace of boisterous, even slightly campy sense of adventure that this movie had.
Also loved Groot, and little Bonsai Groot.

I am so glad I read this thread as I thought I was the only one who cried during this movie. I loved every second of this silly, sweet movie. I definitely understood the comparison to Star Wars after seeing this. My younger sister didn't really get the movie, but she was born in 1981 and never really got the Star Wars movies.
Chris Pratt owned this movie. I hope he can leverage this and Jurassic Park into becoming the next big star. We haven't had a young, male star with this much charisma onscreen in ages. Most of them are just pale, skinny, whiny and interchangeable. And Pratt has an earnestness that I haven't seen since Ford. He's definitely a throwback.
I am so thrilled they are making a sequel to this movie.

Pratt was like Harrison Ford with a touch of Will Ferrell, in a good way. Also, I have to say that I liked Zoe Saldana in this movie as well. Her character wasn't really one of the standout funny characters, but her delivery of "Who put sticks up their butts?" is still making me laugh a week later.

I saw it again, and it a less crowded theater we all caught more of the jokes and enjoyed the banter more between the characters. I liked the Kevin Bacon references.

Good comparison! I can't see Ford having a line like "They got my dick message!", but I could see Ferrell delivering it.

I might have liked this more than the first Avengers movie. I can't wait to see how they all come together.

I find it amusing that Vin Diesel is still doing the voice for Groot even though he's Baby Groot now. Basically anything to do with Baby Groot is amusing.
