Hot Pursuit was ruined for me as soon as she came on in the trailer. My feelings towards her is reflected in Kerry Washington's expression when she started speaking at the SAGs or Golden Globes. She needs to take it down a couple of notches and maybe she would be funny.

This quote from TLo sums these pap shots perfectly: Joe Manganiello managed to upstage her in these shots...and I'm not even that into him. I haven't seen Sofia on Modern Family, but I liked her in the Diet Pepsi commercials. I saw a Hot Pursuit commercial. It had a couple of jokes about how the news reported the age of Sofia's character (and she wasn't pleased to be reported as being that old). I looked up her age; she is in her 40s. I didn't get it. I don't have a good feeling about the movie, but what do I know? I liked The Heat.

If you watch Modern Family's first season, her character is so much more low key. I was quite surprised,,since I didn't watch it back then and caught up in reruns. Typically, the showrunners decided to exaggerate a character trait - which they seem to do all the damn time with sitcoms. After all, if a slight accent and a bit of yelling was funny, then a ridiculously full blown sometimes unintelligible accent with ear splitting screeching will be hi-larious. Not.
They've done the same with Cam on the show, exaggerated his goofy foofiness into clownish self centred obnoxiousness. And they've turned Luke into a simpleton. And Alex into a bitch.

I didn't start watching Modern Family until last year, so my first introduction to her was her loud screeching on commercials. Like americanchai, I didn't feel the need for another Charo.
But after watching Modern Family, I do find her endearing and funny on that. I also admire what a good businessperson she is.
I haven't heard many good things about Joe Mangianello so I'm not really buying into the hype on that.

I'm curious as to how Hot Pursuit is going to do at the box office. It is her first real leading role since becoming a TV star. I wonder if her success there will translate to the movies. I think it looks like total crap and Reese Witherspoon is not the draw she used to be. But who knows? There are so few movies aimed at women anymore maybe it'll be a hit. I can't wait for this movie to come out. It looks hysterical and reminds me of Outrageous Fortune, which is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. I hope it does ok business. There should be more comedies centered around women. Sofia is my favorite actor on Modern Family. I never understood why Julie Bowen got all the Emmy love for the show over Sofia. Well, I understand it because the Emmys have always preferred white actors over minorities, but I don't accept it. Sofia also seems to be the only one of the show outside of the actress who plays Haley who isn't phoning it in by this point.

I don't think this movie looks too promising, but I think she's hilarious. She is great on talk shows- very charismatic and always has some good one liners. I don't watch "Modern Family" regularly anymore, but I always thought she did a great job as Gloria. I get that she's written as a caricature, but I think she plays her well.

I haven't heard many good things about Joe Mangianello so I'm not really buying into the hype on that. He's kind of interesting/cool, from what I have seen. He's very well spoken about feminism and women in Hollywood, and he's outspoken about pro gay rights. I always hear really random fun facts about him, like he's an old college buddy/roommate of Matthew Bohmer (he went to Carnegie Mellon). And I agree with Sofia Vergara. I want to like her, but she's been set to 11 for a lot of her career. I also can't stand Modern Family. She was cute in Chef, though I thought there wasn't much to that movie.

He sounds unhinged. Like, crazier than a bag of ferrets. The Times should be ashamed of itself (not likely, I know, but still).
If I were Sofia, I'd be tempted to start looking into ways the embryo refrigeration might "mysteriously" fail.

Who in their right mind would want kids with this guy? Thankfully their agreement says neither can do anything with the embryos without the others consent. I'm thinking they'll be staying on ice a long time.
I'm stunned the NY Times gave print space to what is basically a personal vendetta against his ex. It's horrifying. I'm not a fan of hers but I feel bad for her regarding this.
