In the context of the show, Kevin's "here's to our dead dad" toast was expected, but can you imagine going to a wedding like that? I put a note in the program and offered up a prayer for my mom at my wedding, but it would've been weird to talk about all of that in a toast at the reception. Ditto the ashes.
I speculate that in the flash forward, Toby is suffering from depression. His parents think his issues relate to the women in his life, but he has clinical depression. Thankfully, Kate is shown as a supportive, caring spouse. I loved her one on one scene with her mom.
Kevin and Beth's cousin - I like it!
Who are Randall and Tess going to see? Deja? Where is Beth? That scene felt so ominous after the worst case scenario game Beth and Randall played.
Hope next season covers Jack, his brother, and Vietnam. And we find out how Miguel and Rebecca got together.

Bright spot: at least we know Tess doesn't end up on the pole. My guess was either Deja or *gasp* Annie is in jail, hence the whole "you need to visit her" conversation. I'm on the fence about Kevin's toast. On one hand, I understand how it was inappropriate to bring up their late father, but on the other hand, I can't imagine someone NOT mentioning my dad at my wedding (if he was no longer around). My dad isn't the perfect dad that Jack Pearson is and my sun and moon aren't determined by my dad either, but my dad has played a large role to where I am today and has been part of every life event. And though weddings are happy events (for most), my thoughts would be on him if he weren't there to walk me down the aisle or to have my father-daughter dance with. And Kevin and Bath's cousin? I'm all over it! And if they come back with an adopted Vietnamese child, my tear ducts may never recover. I know we're supposed to care about Miguel, but I don't. I love Beth and I tolerate Toby, but I will NEVER be okay with my best friend marrying my husband even if I've been dead for 10, 20, or 30 years! And because of that, I will never be supportive of Miguel and Rebecca. Can someone tell me where I've seen Toby's mom from? I can't place where I've seen her face! And Kevin Arnold's dad as Toby's dad! Love it!

And Kevin Arnold's dad as Toby's dad! Love it! Wendy Malick (sp?) played Toby's mom. She's been in a million things but I think she's most famous for her role in Just Shoot Me. Also, Kate's hair for her wedding looked like she used one of those low flow shower heads from that Seinfeld episode. I was also trying to figure out who Randall was telling his daughter they had to go see. I'm going with Deja. In prison. After causing Beth's death. I do have to say that whoever in the wardrobe department that dresses Beth deserved an Emmy. She has the best clothes!!

Can someone tell me where I've seen Toby's mom from? I can't place where I've seen her face! And Kevin Arnold's dad as Toby's dad! Love it! Everywhere. That woman has been in everything. As mentioned, she was in Just Shoot Me, but she also had a starring role on Hot in Cleveland with Betty White, a recurring role on Frasier, and my personal favorite, the husband-stealing bitch Claire on Kate & Allie. Regarding the toast, I thought a mention of their dad would be appropriate, but Kevin's toast was not only too deep, it was also a lot about himself. It kinda reminded me of the awkward toast moment in Rachel Getting Married, where Anne Hathaway's fresh out of rehab and spends her wedding toast working out her own feelings in a totally inappropriate setting. Randall's toast was the right touch of mentioning their dad but also focusing on Kate and actually mentioning Toby, which I'm not sure Kevin even did. It seems clear that Toby is always going to be a bit on the outside, in a more pronounced way than Beth. Whether that's because Beth and Randall got together younger, or because they have kids, or because Beth is just better with people, OR because Randall is less fixated on Jack because he doesn't have the additional burden of guilt that Kate feels because she blames herself. But there's always going to be that core group that's mired in this one event and everyone else is just living on the edges of it. They did a nice job of illustrating that in the therapy episode, the "others" really are in their own group, even though Miguel went through Jack's death too. Was that flash forward supposed to be shortly in the future? I'm very curious about what was going on there. I'm less interested in the future Toby storyline. Try as I might, I can't get past finding his character annoying. He seems like a nice enough guy, but he's so the type of person I'd avoid in real life.

Was that flash forward supposed to be shortly in the future? I'm very curious about what was going on there. Given Tess is at least mid-twenties in the flash-forward, it's got to be 15 or so years in the future. The Kate and Kevin ones seem to be about a year ff, given Randall mentions not even having control of what will happen a year from now. He did at the end, after apologizing for his "weird toast."

I think something happened with Beth, and she's either in a nursing home or dead. Twice Randall has visited Tessa without Beth, plus I think it would be too obvious that Deja ends up in jail after the worst case scenario game.

I love Kevin but that toast was excruciating, thank goodness for Randall's follow up. I've been hoping for a Kevin-Sophie reunion but I liked the chemistry with Beth's sister-cousin. It looked like Kevin had a picture of his uncle in Viet Nam on the plane, so perhaps their trip is related to him in some way. I'm definitely interested in learning more about Jack's brother, and how Miguel and Rebecca became a couple.
I loved the scene between Kate and Rebecca. It seemed like a real clearing of the air, and a fresh, better place for their relationship. Randall and Kevin as wedding planners cracked me up, and I would much rather have seen that than so much of Toby. I don't care for him. Not in a boat, not with a goat, just no! I hope that the meds Kate refers to are not for depression, but for something quick and terminal. I like Kate and find her interesting, but not when she's with Toby. And I just can't stand Toby! I hope there is dispensation on the board rule about wishing harm when it's a fictional character.
Poor Deja. But I think that is a very real portrayal, she is finally in a safe place, and it is natural for her to fall apart. I can't bear to think about who Tessa and Randall are talking about in the fast forward. I don't want it to be Beth, but I don't want it to be anyone else either!

Everytime I say I’m not going to cry, I cry. This show gets to me. Always.
I liked the finale. I’m not even going to speculate on the FF situations. Anytime I think I’ve figured it out, they dupe me. So I’m just going to enjoy as it comes.

^ Same here! They're too good with the twisty-turny foreshadowing. Well, I'm not gonna play their game anymore
