I didn't know it was back! Will I cry? As much as usual? Or are they easing us in? Iād say easing us in. Some emotional moments, yes.

That fast-forward at the end with Randall, Adult!Tess and OldManBeard Toby got me like ? I just need to know who 'she' is, ok show? Also, totally amused (I'm easily amused) at the carnival prices in 1972.

I just need to know who 'she' is, ok show? Last season, I thought it was Beth. But last night, they deliberately showed OldManToby in a bed alone where the other side had not been slept in... dun dun DUNNNN.

Tess doesn't want to see her grandma in that condition and Randall convinces Toby that she would want to see him, even though he's not her son and he hasn't been in touch with the Pearsons much since Kate died. Break out the Costco-sized box of tissues!

I really enjoyed the second episode of the season. The girl who plays young Kate is fantastic, it's so easy to see current Kate in her behavior and it was interesting to see the beginnings of what happened to Kate's life in general after her father died.
I'm interested in all of the storylines, but most want to see the immediate aftermath of Jack's death and this episode was a good start. The parts about Rebecca and the house were especially sad and added another layer to the story. The what-ifs would haunt me as well.

As always, I'm interested in Randall and his family. A lot of that is because of Sterling K. Brown's performance, but his story just always gets me. He looked gutted at the end when Kevin told him was Kate said (seriously, Kate, the world does not revolve around you and your daddy issues! GRRRRR)
Adult Kate and Toby are not my favorites (obv), but I appreciate that they show Adult Kate facing judgement in almost every facet of her life because of her weight. That feels really true to life for overweight women.
I'm interested in Kevin learning more about his father's Vietnam experience and personally I could really relate to that story. I lost a parent at a young age and there are big chunks of my mom's life that I don't know much about because she's not here to talk to me as an adult about what she experienced. I'm excited to see where that goes for him.
Rebecca is so interesting to me because she's not the worst mom ever, but she falls short in sooooo many ways, and we do not see mothers like this on television very often.

It feels like an anvil.)

There's too much for them to unpack together in this world. I'm loving the show again this season, but I don't like Zoe, and I really don't like Zoe with Kevin. I feel like Sophie was his lobster. Toby is wearing on me less than he did before. "I'm a heroin addict!" That was gold. I feel sorry for Alan, he seemed like a good guy!

Yeah, I think the Toby-in-bed-alone-omg-is-Kate-dead scene was a misdirect. I don't really have a strong vibe of who "she" is, but I don't think it's Kate.
I really liked last night's episode, especially when Kate told Randall that him flying across the country to see her was "the most Dad thing ever." Randall truly does embody the most Jack traits of all the Big Three.
Also, I chuckled at Jack's mom insisting on stopping for a coffee cake because she "couldn't show up empty-handed" and then Rebecca echoing that sentiment to Jack. Such a nice old school touch.

I'm here for the early days of the Jack-Rebecca relationship. Alan's mom sure was understanding about Rebecca backing out of the relationship! Hope Alan was too. He did seem like a sweet guy, but Jack is so darn sad and lost, that Rebecca can't resist him. Major bonus points for being a good son, and washing dishes.
My coworker thinks that Randall and Beth are going to move into the run down building they own. After Beth's firing and Randall saying he wants to run for the council seat, that could be how the story develops. There's nothing tying them to their current area, and they may need to downsize! It obvious Beth is nearing a crisis point.
Terry Gross is so tiny. I loved how Kevin didn't even know who she was. I'm not getting "she's the one" vibes from Zoe either. A son searching for his dad's Vietnam buddies and asking about his service sounds like a great topic for a documentary.
I truly hope Kate is over her childhood/dad stuff. I didn't think I would like it, but I got a kick out of seeing all three Kates together. Teen Kate and Adult Kate really do look so much alike.
