I can't decide how I feel about Toby. I liked him at first. Then I became SUPER ANNOYED at him during the episode where he would not BACK OFF about watching football together, despite the fact that she asserted a boundary several times. Since then, I guess I'm just wary.

Then I became SUPER ANNOYED at him during the episode where he would not BACK OFF about watching football together, despite the fact that she asserted a boundary several times. Since then, I guess I'm just wary. This is how I feel. He was super-pushy with the football thing, but this week, with the food, I really felt like he was in a no-win situation. He was fine with being supportive of Kate and skipping dessert, etc, when they were out together, but she didn't want that. I loved the Kevin/Randall scenes--both present day and when they were teens. Kevin really was a little asshole as a teen, but him articulating that it was because he always felt their mother loved Randall more, was honest. And Beth still continues to be my favorite. This exchange had me rolling: Beth: Hey, Kevin, did you see a yellow legal pad in my office? Kevin: You mean my bedroom? Beth: Do I though? Great comedic timing on that last line.

I finally realized something today. Kevin and Kate Pearson were the names of fictional siblings from England in my school book, back when I first learned English in 1989. Millions of German school kids must have learned English vocab and grammar with the stories involving Kate, Kevin and their friend Ronny. And now they're all grown up and are suddenly American! ;-)
Sorry, topic? I worship Sterling K. Brown and want him to star in ALL the movies and TV shows from now on.

I initially really liked Toby, he started to annoy me when he made her sing in front of the senior citizens. I officially disliked him when he PAUSED the Steelers game! A LIVE GAME! The sports lover in me would have broken up with him because honestly, who does that!?!
I'm so torn with Randall and Rebecca, I understand both sides. Rebecca needed William to not be involved while Randall was growing up, but at some point, maybe when he was 18? After college? Before his wedding day? At the birth of his child? At some point, she should have given Randall all the information she had on William and let Randall decide what to do. And sure, William is all cleaned up now, but what Rebecca knew of William was that he was a recovering drug addict who left his baby at the fire station. That person would probably be the last person I would ever want involved with my child as I'm raising him. So I'm hoping Randall sees why Rebecca made the decision that she did.
And I already know I'm going to lose it in next week's episode when Randall sees a ghost Jack.
(Can I say, how much I love Jack's character. He's such an optimist, but not the annoying optimist where I always want to shove the lemons up their asses.)

Rebecca couldn't remember the name of Kevin's play, the most important thing in his life right now, but she remembered there was a new assistant in Randall's office and asked how it was working out. It is clear she is closer to Randall than her other kids and she didn't tell him about William out of fear of losing that. Randall's anger is so justified because instead of having months with his father, he could've had years.
Another telling moment was when Beth said to Rebecca "I don't know how your marriage works, but in mine we don't keep secrets."
Jack is Superdad.

When the commercial showed Rebecca saying, "Nothing bad ever happens at Christmas", I thought uh-oh.

When the commercial showed Rebecca saying, "Nothing bad ever happens at Christmas", I thought uh-oh. I was not expecting that, but I should've once Doc McRainey made it through. I wonder how that will play on Kate's decision to get gastric bypass. About halfway through this episode, I wasn't feeling it, but then it finished really strong. I loved the reveal about William and his partner (when is it NOT a joy to see Dennis O'Hare?). I just really love this show.

Randall's reaction to "grandpa is gay," was everything.
I love this show so much. I need more of Kate and her mom. And I hope the snooty Brit actress is gone for good, but I fear she is not.

"Dad! Grandpa's Gay! Or at least Bi!" - LOL at that line. So perfect.
As I will be without family, and with my best friend now moved 2500 miles away, this was quite the tear jerker episode for me. I love this show.
