I was able to watch the first episodes this weekend without interruption and now I understand why so many of you thought Toby was a mess from the beginning. I must have been distracted during more of the episodes than I thought.

Toby is sticking around, I guess.
And Kevin, oh Kevin, you're a sweet guy, but your choice of words is appalling. I know he means no harm in what he says, but geez, "It's the right thing to do" is harsh!

I'm so disappointed that Toby is still with us. He irks me. I'd rather keep William, thank you very much.

I don't buy for a second that someone in that situation would have used that phrase. It's only purpose was to cause eavesdropping drama.

Was I the only one a crying mess on last night's episode?

Nope! Same here. I think it will be criminal if Gerald Mcraney isn't nominated come Emmy season. He was phenomenal last night.

Was I the only one a crying mess on last night's episode? The Dr. K stuff got to me like nothing else, as that was essentially my grandfather for the year after my grandmother died. He literally went to the cemetery every day and sat by her grave and talked to her. We were all really worried that he had no will left to live. He did eventually turn it around and lived almost 25 more years, experiencing a lot of happiness, but, man, there was a dark period there.

I must be a monster, because this was the first episode to leave me cold. The scenes with the fireman and his wife seemed unnecessary, and we already knew most of the info of the our parents. All that is new is that at least 2 of the 3 have the same birthday as Jack, and Jack is perfect.
BUT I'm not a parent, and I'm not married, so maybe it's just perspective? I don't know. This one was just a time filler for me.

Was I the only one a crying mess on last night's episode? I tend to cry fairly easily during sad TV shows & movies. While I really enjoy This is Us, I have somehow managed to watch all of the episodes without crying. Until last night's.

Kate just seems to be a pushy jerk magnet. I don't want to see her fall into the arms of this new guy.
