Honestly, she doesn't have to look like Ronda Rousey (or any other 'ew' muscular woman). Hell, if she looked like Lucy Lawless circa her Xena years, that'd be fine. There is just absolutely nothing about Gal Gadot that looks like an Amazonian warrior. She looks like an indistinguishable runway model cast to be conventionally slender and attractive, not even tall. (I had to look her up to see that yes, she is tall.) I feel like the only Wonder Womany thing about her is she's a brunette - and the studio probably feels reluctant about that. BvS was SO bad I barely realized she was in it. I mean, her presence didn't help or hurt it. If anything, it just got ridiculous awfulness all over Wonderwoman. But Pine is super cute and potentially might salvage all the above. Which is not how I wanted to feel about this movie. My thoughts exactly. It'll prob end up a rental for me.

Gal was a combat trainer in the Israeli Defense Forces, I'm thinking she can probably handle herself. I thought she was the best part of BvS by miles.

I'm going to see it. At least that way I'll know if it's a good movie or if it's just a good movie compared to some of the other dreck that DC has put out recently.

I would LOVE for this to be the movie that breaks the cycle of DC suckage, and I say that as someone who consistently prefers the Marvel movies. I also want it to have good legs and great word of mouth and beat down Tom Cruise's Mummy movie in its second weekend.
On a shallow note, I also love how Gal Gadot is wearing flats on all the red carpets, and it's only partly because she hurt her back.

The embargo on critical reviews lifted tonight, and so far it is 95% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Most people seem to be saying that it isn't perfect (most common reason cited is pacing problems in some sections), but overall very good, and the cast is great in it.
The thing that encourages me the most is that many people are saying that this WW is just a straight-up good hero. She's not cynical, she's not loaded down with angst. She's just a good person trying to do the right thing. I haven't seen Man of Steel, but the thing that struck me in BvS is that it really looked like being Superman sucked and Superman himself acted liked like it sucked. And Batman was just bitter and fueled by revenge. It wasn't fun or inspiring. It sounds like WW might be inspiring.

Some asshole emailed the mayor of Austin complaining about the women-only screenings of Wonder Woman, and the mayor's response is glorious.

I just secured tickets for Traffic and me to take MissP tomorrow night.
I hope I didn't inadvertently buy tickets to a women only show! It was a long time and 175 lbs ago the last time I went out in public in drag....

I'm seeing this today, too. And Tom and Lorenzo's review is making me more excited for it. It sounds like it will deliver exactly what I want it to deliver.

I feel dirty.
I fucking loved this movie. I am watching the credits as I type. The first thing on screen after the title at the end?
Executive Producer: Steve Mnuchin.
Yes. THAT Steve Mnuchin.
I want my money back...you bitch.
Then I want to cross the streams and have a Marvel/DC crossover where Diana and Peggy Carter win WWII.
