I imagine Mnuchin's role had more to do with his time at Goldman Sachs. SOMEBODY has to out up the money to get these blockbusters made, so of course the biggest bank is involved somewhere, and he was probably the guy at Goldman that dealt with that.
Still, seeing a Cheetolini cabinet member in the credits of a movie with such a strong feminist ideal (my testicles are making my phraseology clumsy here) was kinda like sucking on a lemon.

Saw it tonight and it was fantastic. Took MiniSpin and she loved it, too. The first "awe" moment of the movie where there is a pause and silence in the theater got MiniSpin to say, "THAT. WAS. AWESOME." and caused the entire audience to laugh out loud. To say she's a fan of Wonder Woman now is an understatement. She knows even more so that women kick ass and aren't going to sit back and let a man continue to screw with saving lives and taking names. Chris Pine always brings the pretty and swoon. I think I might just go back and see it again if I can convince Mr. Spin to check it out this time. I love seeing/hearing about the reactions from little girls to this movie. As someone who is far from a kid, this tweet sums up things for me pretty well. My other favorite reaction was someone who said, "Now I know why white guys are always supremely confident. I saw ONE movie with a woman hero and now I'm ready to take on 1000 dudes barehanded."

There was a nice male:female ratio in the audience when I saw it Saturday. And it was nice to see dads with their kids which included boys. Many women had on WW t-shirts and tiaras.

Went to see this Friday and loved it! I have a long list of things that really impressed me in the storytelling, but I'll save them for later discussion when I think more folks have had a chance to see this (otherwise, this whole post would be spoiler tags). But in just general WW news, while I'm glad the mayor of Austin told off the guy whining about Women Only viewings- I don't see why Women Only viewings are necessary. I WANT men to see this movie. I want men and women to see this movie together. If this is a film that is going to empower women and little girls to feel like they can take on the world then I want their fathers, brothers, sons, boyfriends, male friends, random dudes who bought tickets to the same show to witness that empowerment.
Plus, it's just a damn good movie, I don't want anyone feeling excluded and butt hurt about not getting to see it when they want to.

One of my favorite aspects of this movie was the complete and total absence of the Male Gaze. The fact that Diana is gorgeous was acknowledged (by another woman!) but she was never overtly sexualized despite how "revealing" her costume was. And I just love that the only gratuitous nudity was {Spoiler}Chris Pine covering his junk while walking sideways down a bunch of boulders. And even then, that moment was played for laughs.

I may actually break my streak of not seeing anything in theaters and go to this.

I saw this yesterday with my mum who is in town and we LOVED it. I dragged her to it because I've been wanting to see it and couldn't wait anymore. The Amazons are the BEST. It's a struggle to choose a favorite moment because the battle at the beginning was so damn fantastic. All the women were so kickass but the No Man's Land battle was just so WW iconic. One of the best superhero movies ever and the decided best in dealing with women and the male gaze. I'll be seeing it several times and buying the DVD. I just hope that there are more Amazon scenes on the DVD.

Robin Wright has said that she will appear in Justice League, so it at least looks like we'll get at least a glimpse of the Amazons again fairly soon. Forgive the Tumblr link, but here are some BTS pics of the ladies playing the Amazons. I love that they got some seriously althetic women to fill those parts.
