She's going to be on Inside the Actors Studio tonight; on a clip/trailer, she actually mentions John Hinckley. I love her. Discuss.

She's gay, right? I know nothing's been confirmed from her, but I thought it was a given.

Yeah it's pretty much a known fact she's a lesbian.

It's almost no fun to discuss her on a board like this, because she seems to lead a distinctly normal, discreet and un-famewhore-ish type of life. She is a perfect example that the words "actor" and "celebrity" are not necessarily synonymous. Meryl Streep is another example. I just have tremendous amounts of respect for her.

She just gave an interview to USA Today promoting Flightplan that should be passed around the industry as a blueprint for actors promoting their films without famewhoring. She manages to sound interested in the project without gushing, and talks about her kids without mentioning her personal life. She's a genius and I love her.

Definitely gay, very closeted as far as the public is concerned. She's been living with her partner, Cydney Bernard, for years and years. IIRC, she was on the crew of Somersby. They wear matching rings, they are both the parents of Charlie and Kit, and everybody in Hollywood knows it. It absolutely amazes me that nobody "outs" Jodie ever, not even the tabloids. Interviewers never even ask her about it--it's like a conspiracy. I did read one tabloid story about Jodie and Cydney that was hinting around like crazy, but it was still just hinting. It was like, "Cydney is Jodie's close, close friend who lives with Jodie and helps take care of Jodie's kids and she's almost like a mom to them too!" Maybe they figure as long as Jodie's not fronting like she's got a boyfriend, they'll leave her alone. There were rumblings when Jodie showed up to the Golden Globes one year with Russell Crowe and it seemed like an are-they-aren't-they publicity stunt, and I think the press was sort of like, "You'd better watch it, Jodie, because I don't think you want us to get into that."

I've always had a crush on Jodie, despite some of her terrible acting and directing choices (WTF, Nell?!). It seems odd that she is drawn to some of these bizzarely pedestrian or sentimental stories, though maybe it's a reaction to having made her reputation on films such as Taxi Driver, The Accused, and Lambs. Like, she just needed a break! But now she's done two similar films in a row. I suppose these are interesting if only for the fact that her roles in both are as a single mother who is both in danger and the action star.
She's out in the sense that every once in a while, People will print a photo of her and her partner. But she hasn't done it "officially," whatever that means. I'm not sure if she's ever shown up on the red carpet with her partner. Anyone know?
Also, I think the young actor Kristen Stewart who played her daughter in that "safe room" movie is a dead ringer for her both physically and talent-wise. A real find.

I totally respect her work and have tuned into a film only because her name is on the marquee. Don't care if she's gay, straight, plaid or whatever. She's extremely talented, intelligent and knows exactly what she wants. What more can you ask for?
(Watching "Inside the Actors Studio" now.)

I just watched ITAS. I LOVE Jodie and she has fascinated me since I was a kid. I see her movies just to watch her act. She, along with Vanessa Redgrave and Kathy Bates are my favorite female actors.
SHe was dating some guy for a while when she was in Yale, an English actor, and I remember they were caught with pot during that time too.
I am also fascinated that no one ever takes a picture of or speaks of her sexuality and her "wife". Does she fly that low under the radar or is there some sort of love and respect the media has for her??
