This is probably better suited for the TV forums, but: I wasn't feeling great for the past few days so I marathoned When Calls The Heart (up through season 5) on Netflix. It's exactly what you'd expect from the Hallmark channel: sappy romance, Mary Sue lead, dumb G-rated humor, and the bad guys always lose. But I read some other forums about it and a lot of people are actually kind of happy about Lori getting the axe. Her character went from secondary cast to completely taking over, and she had a really boring storyline.
Also, rumor has it she was the reason for the main guy actor leaving (or at least it was because his role as a lead was getting completely overshadowed by hers), so I'm kinda hoping that means he'll come back for at least the series finale. Who cares that he supposedly died...this is a soap opera after all and characters dying off screen (and we never see his body, though we do see a coffin) never stopped soaps from bringing them back before. He died in a way where it would be pretty easy to explain that his body was unrecognizable and they just guessed it was him (and it's the 1910's so DNA isn't a thing), and they guessed wrong and he had amnesia ever since or was in a coma and just woke up or something. Again, soapy, but why not.
TL;DR -- the show didn't need her, her role had become ridiculously large, and I hope it means the dreamy guy comes back and we get the happy ending. This is the Hallmark Channel daggummit, not Game of Thrones, it's supposed to have a happy ending! (Oh, and bribery is bad, kids. Don't do bribery.)

I sort of felt like Olivia was an innocent bystander in this—I still don’t understand the fixation with USC in the first place, or why the family didn’t just choose a picturesque private small liberal arts college with a relaxed admissions policy and pay four or five years’ tuition upfront. But now the poor lamb sounds very much like a tool. When Calls the Heart sucks powerfully, but Estate Sale Mysteries wasn’t terrible. Since Hallmark has both Psych and Columbo, I spend a lot of time with it on.

Considering the now infamous video of her flat out saying that she didn't care about an education, she just wanted to go to parties and football games, etc, the fact that she now thinks she can convince people that she's serious about school is super oblivious. Also, considering the scandal is still swirling, does she really think anyone would welcome her there? If it were me, I'd want to get as far away as possible from the embarrassment.

I can’t begin to know about these people’s lives but I would have surely imagined a stylist or manicurist or crystal curator would have pointed out that now might be a good time to find a different path.

The fact that nobody gives a crap about what Olivia Jade's sister is doing, and that I can barely remember what the sister's name is but I can probably come up with the name of Olivia Jade's boyfriend if I really tried, tells me that Olivia Jade should be going full-on Kardashian right now and locking down some deals because she's a star.
Unfortunately, the fact that t case is still up in the air is a real hindrance. If the parents had pled guilty, USC could have expelled her and then she could have moved on to Phase 2 Brand Rebuilding. If Lori and Mossimo drag this out for another few years, she's screwed. Yet another good reason for her to be mad at them.

I can't decide who's going to be the big winner, either Olivia Jade can capitalize on the scandal and rake in a ton of money or the sister will end up being better off that her name is barely attached to all of this. (I have no idea what her name is.)

I was hoping they’d recast her role (hell, they recast her husband after the 1st episode aired), but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

And thanks for validating my taste in cheese! It's pretty appealing, and I like it much more than Kellie Martin as Nancy Grace's Mary Sue Stories, or whatever. (yes, I know Grace's fiance was murdered, but Kellie Martin's entire note is :- [ in every episode) And yes. Like with everyone else affected by the actions of a few, it stinks for the others involved.
