What an awful tragedy.

People magazine says an adult life jacket was found in the boat with her son.
What a terrible tragedy.
It's like the cast of Glee is cursed. I only intermittently watched that show, but she was great on it.

What a tragedy.
It sounds like basic safety wasn't followed, but in her defense, maybe with social distancing and quarantining, she was doing activities herself with her son that normally would have involved other people? Not saying it was the right thing to do, but maybe understandable that she wanted to vacation with her son and just didn't have anybody who could be there for safety and she took a bad chance.

I've just been close to tears all morning thinking about her poor baby alone on the boat, waiting for his mama to come back, and of her possible last moments of panic, not only that she was drowning but that she was leaving her baby alone in the water. This is so horrible.

Absolutely heartbreaking. That poor little boy and her loved ones.

But, what if they don't find her body?
I don't want to get all conspiracy theorist, but many celebrities have stalkers. Could it be possible that someone took her and not being interested in her child, left him behind?
I suppose my mind goes to that possibility because it gives us hope that she is still alive and could be found. Though in a way, I think it's a worse scenario than drowning.

I guess I'm just not as kind as y'all cause this just makes me angry. You're a single mom, you can't take stupid risks like that. She clearly knew the importance of a vest - she put her son's on him. Why not her own? That poor child will never be the same. She was his world and now she's gone. That poor child. My heart breaks for him.

Why not her own? That poor child will never be the same. She was his world and now she's gone. That poor child. My heart breaks for him. I see it all the time. People will insist upon their children wearing life vests but won't don one themselves. People think they are safe if the life jacket is within reach and don't realize how quickly they can end up in the water without it. I was out with a friend the other day and she had her life jacket in her boat and I was wearing mine. She was stopped by the Wildlife Resources Agency, who patrol our lake. The agent told her that he could give her a ticket for not having the life jacket actually on her body properly, but let her off with a warning. I had a friend just last week to me say, "I used to wear my life jacket, but now I don't bother. The boat floats." Then we told her that it was state law that she be wearing one, so she has started to. I honestly feel naked without mine. It's a very uncomfortable feeling. Our lake is 100 ft deep. Yeah, I'm a good swimmer and my boat floats, but if I flipped far from shore I would exhaust myself trying to tow my boat behind me until I got to shallow water. The most likely scenario is that Naya was confident in her swimming ability and had the life jacket close by and somehow hit her head. Alternately, she could have gotten a mouthful of water down her airway and not been able to recover from that. What a terrible thing to happen. I hope they recover her body soon.

Many, many adults put life vests on their children and don't think they need them. I don't know why, but I thought Naya had actually gone for a swim, but I guess that doesn't make sense in the context of being out in a boat. When my siblings and I were teenagers and went to the beach with our cousins, I remember our mother shrieking nonstop at us that we had to have life vests on in the sunfish. None of our cousins had to and we thought it was really lame and embarrassing. But looking back, why would our cousins go out on a tiny boat in the ocean without a life vest? But, what if they don't find her body? I don't want to get all conspiracy theorist, but many celebrities have stalkers. Could it be possible that someone took her and not being interested in her child, left him behind? I suppose my mind goes to that possibility because it gives us hope that she is still alive and could be found. Though in a way, I think it's a worse scenario than drowning. I'm not a conspiracy theorist either so I don't think this is likely, but if this were a movie or a soap opera, she would have faked her own death. The thought crossed my mind. Or possibly committed suicide; people have done that with their children around.

Sheriff is saying they were both swimming back to the boat but her son made it and she never did. So sad, if she had just worn the life jacket she would likely be alive.
