Now tomorrow morning, I'll breakfast in bed, and then get straight up into the tweeds.

I finally realized what my problem with Daphne is: she looks 14 at the oldest. Hastings, you're under arrest!

I finally realized what my problem with Daphne is: she looks 14 at the oldest. Hastings, you're under arrest! Seriously! The bangs that look like a kindergartener cut them and empire waist dresses didn't help mature her look either. I fast forwarded through their love scenes because they made me uncomfortable. I caught a couple of episodes of Sanditon on PBS this weekend and I regret not watching that show when it first came on Masterpiece theater. It's a take on Jane Austen's unfinished last novel by Andrew Davies.

Yeah, I found Daphne very meh as well. I know the female protagonist in the romance genre is often styled as the audience self-insert and therefore as generic and bland as possible, but she was just a really weak link much of the time IMO. Some combination of lackluster writing and actor incapable of making her come to life.
And it was a real contrast to Simon, I thought. The actor is very charismatic and seemed to do his best with material that was equally bad.

I think they were trying to show how Daphne was the "perfect" daughter because she had to be. She was the eldest, she was expected to go out and make a good marriage and set the trend for her younger sisters. I think Eloise even said something to her about how she (Daphne) had to be perfect because Eloise wasn't. They also showed this in her costumes in that Daphne was the one female character most devoted to the "Bridgerton Blue" color scheme. "Perfect" is usually boring.
But...yeah. I think they took it a bit too far and the actress didn't really give her a hidden spark. They gave her something interesting to do with the ruse with the Duke, but once that was over, it was just kinda like "meh" and some general uncomfortable feelings because she looked so young and the whole consent thing people have covered.

Yeah I haven’t started the show and the Daphne actress is a big reason why. I just totally don’t get her. Her whole being annoys me.

Finished last night, and the One. Thing. That. Bothers. Me. The. Most. is that the Prince's necklace is STILL on the stone wall out in the garden. Gah!!! hahaha. Cressida pocketed that necklace long ago, since she was spying through the windows

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that obsessed over the necklace! I kept waiting for that to be a plot point but it was just never mentioned again.

People are really losing their minds that René-Jean Page isn’t coming back for Season 2. The show is called Bridgerton, not Hastings. People really had no clue the seasons are supposed to be about each sibling? He’s going to come back for what? A two-second scene?

He and Daphne got super-boring once they stopped their little ruse and got married, so I was afraid they were going to keep them around and keep them center-stage because Page is so popular. I think the next season is about the eldest brother? I'm not that excited about that since I didn't find his character that fascinating (I'm all about the next ones down - Eloise and the brother they should have made gay/bi but didn't, but hey - there's still time), but I wouldn't be sorry to see Daphne go to the background.

I’ve been a fan of the series since the books came out and Anthony and Kate’s story is my favorite and a fan favorite.
I just can’t with the conspiracy theories RJP fans are coming up with. He signed a one season contract because his character was only prevalent for one book. It’s not Netflix’s fault that people didn’t realize the source material. And he’s getting so many roles. Coming back is not feasible, even for a brief appearance.
