I read that Trump told the secret service to get his shoes. I hope someone took a photo of their interior to show any lifts in them.

Trump is very, very tall. He definitely doesn't need lifts. One of my BFFs's husbands is Secret Service so they've met all the presidents for the last 20 years. My friend is 5'11 and Trump and Melania towered over her and her husband.
I'm just dreading the discourse that is going to result from this incident. I'd already resolved to not watch the news until, oh, hell finally freezes over. Now I'm just hoping a comet hits us before November.

Was listening to MSNBC and the mayor of Butler, PA was trying to to the "both sides" the issue of rhetoric, blaming the push to get folks informed about Project 2025.
Al Gore didn't sic an angry mob on Congress in January 2001, Hilary Clinton didn't in January 2017.

blaming the push to get folks informed about Project 2025. Yes, how dare people want everyone to know what Trump and the GOP want to do. Ugh.

The fact that his security detail allowed him to linger on stage a moment to get his fist-in-the-air photo op ... that is pathetic.
They should have already been moving him to safety. What the hell is wrong with people?!
This country is screwed.

The fact that his security detail allowed him to linger on stage a moment to get his fist-in-the-air photo op ... that is pathetic. They should have already been moving him to safety. What the hell is wrong with people?! This country is screwed. That is my biggest takeaway from all this. And he did it SEVERAL times. Now that we hear the audio when he was in the huddle with the agents, he said, "Wait, wait, wait..." and then pushes up to do his big moment. He knows this is what will sell. Yes, I think he wanted to show that he was OK, but it was way more than that. He did it a couple more times after that as he goes down the stairs. That bothers me to no end.

Wonder if from here on out, a qualification for being part of a personal security detail Secret Service group is going to be being large and strong enough to wrestle the person you are protecting to the ground and into the getaway vehicle w/o allowing grandstanding like we saw yesterday.

Marco Rubio tweeted last night that "God protected Donald Trump," which is such a goddamned slap in the face to all the people in this country who have lost loved ones to gun violence only to be given "thoughts and prayers" by him and his collegues.

I think there is a message there to be heard, and I think that in his remarks since Saturday, President Biden has touched on that message. Yes, people disagree, and they need to have a robust debate about it. But every debate is not going to lead to the end of life as we know it, and people have been inflating the urgency in recent years. It was notable to me that in his Oval Office speech, the President spoke to the differences between he and Trump, but toned those differences down a bit to not say Democracy is on the line. I suspect and hope that both campaigns will change the way the message is delivered after this weekend. My gut says that the Biden campaign will show greater changes. Time will tell - I hope it happens. Marco Rubio tweeted last night that "God protected Donald Trump," which is such a goddamned slap in the face to all the people in this country who have lost loved ones to gun violence only to be given "thoughts and prayers" by him and his collegues. Not to mention what that says to the family of Corey Comperatore

I don't know, I liked that Biden finally came out swinging and said out loud what most sane people have been thinking, Trump is a racist rapist that does not belong anywhere in polite society let alone the White House. My fear is that the Democrats will change their message because that's what they do, stick to societal norms that are overall better for our country and political discourse but do not win races in today's political climate. MAGA has only increased their rhetoric, saying Biden is to blame and Trump is the manliest man ever to survive such an ordeal and go golfing the very next day. This election is too important for the Biden team to play nice while the other side rolls around in the mud firing up their base and scooping up fence sitters.
